Hyatt Place Fort Lee / George Washington Bridge

Don't book in this place. I had a booking for 8 people in January 2026 and when they showed up. None of the booking existed. I gave the night manager all the booking and she said this is not their bookings, since it was done through a third party. I called the third party who confirmed the booking and tried to reach the hotel. I booked another hotel and paid and called the credit card to stop the payment. The credit card refused and said that the charge was done regardless. The hotel did not return the money even though the night manager said they will. And i ended up actually paying the credit card since the hotel said that the booking was done.!

The room itself was clean and comfortable, and the towels were very soft, which I appreciated. However, my experience with the staff was frustrating due to repeated dishonesty and inconsistent information. When my flight was delayed, I called ahead to confirm my arrival and to reconfirm my request for a top-floor room, which had been requested at the time of booking. I was told only five floors were available due to construction and that I was assigned to the 5th floor. At check-in, I was given a completely different explanation, the agent said that the top four floors were fully booked due to a company reserving them, and I was advised to check back in a couple of days. After two nights of very poor sleep due to constant highway noise (the room faced the highway and I am a light sleeper

The room itself was nice, except it smelled like smoke as soon as we arrived. I should've complained then, but thought nothing of it, that maybe the guests before us smoked, and had what I thought would be a decent stay. Until hours after my friend and I returned home and she found they charged a $250 smoking fee to our room. Neither one of us smokes, me especially due to my asthma. The only things we brought with us was chips, candy and soda. We both called the manager who told us she would have to check for what evidence housekeeping has. I wish I had complained in the first place about the room instead of trying to be understanding. Instead, we were penalized with a fee for something we weren't responsible for. For this reason, this Hyatt location receives a 2-star rating for me.

We arrived around 11 a.m., and the lady at reception wasn’t very helpful — she wanted $50 for early check-in or to wait until 3 p.m. Later, a male staff member (possibly the assistant manager) was very kind and let us check in early, understanding we’d just come off a 14-hour flight. The hotel was clean, housekeeping was regular, and the A/C worked great. The only downside is the location — it’s right on a highway with no sidewalks, so walking anywhere isn’t safe. You’ll need a car to get around.

The rooms are spacious, clean, and equipped with good air conditioning. Towels are always fresh and new. I didn’t opt for breakfast during my stay. The hotel is located very far from the city center. While it’s convenient to reach by car, public transport is not an option—you’ll need to walk along the highway for 10–25 minutes to get there. The staff and manager weren’t particularly helpful; they simply did the bare minimum. Also, be prepared to leave a $200 deposit (held on your card).
