Hotel Fortney

Lovely old hotel refurbished for atmosphere and comfort. We stayed in a single queen room that was spacious. Very clean, very comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful. There also was a spacious bar on the first floor with occasional entertainment which we enjoyed after dinner. While we didn't eat there, they have a breakfast/lunch spot for those not interested in searching for a daytime meal.||The nicest thing was how close the hotel is to the Driftless Cafe! Easy walking distance - 2 doors down from the hotel! The Driftless is a frequent destination for those coming to Viroqua. (We chose the Fortney specifically because it was so close to the Driftless.)||Highly recommend this hotel! A bit more expensive than a chain hotel, but well worth the extra cost.

We spent a night in this beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Viroqua. The building itself was recently refurbished and is an excellent example of how to make an older building absolutely gorgeous — both inside and out. The design of our room was well thought out, from the bathroom to the sleeping area. The room was clean and well appointed with new furniture and carpeting. With attention to details seen throughout, you can tell that the owners of this hotel had carefully planned and considered what guests need to make for a comfortable stay. For example, how often have you woken up in the middle of the night in a hotel room and needed to find the bathroom? The bathroom has a nightlight! Practically perfect in every way. The Hotel Fortney is an extraordinary place to stay. The rooms are perfectly appointed with luxurious carpeting, heated bathroom floors amazingly comfortable beds with super soft bed linens. Beautiful windows and perfect lighting and minimal furnishings to keep the room sleek. The stylish details from the baseboards and beautiful wallpaper and artwork add to the sumptuous feeling. The kitchen lounge is a genius addition, providing us with a cozy spot to have morning coffee and a muffin. The wizardry of the coffee machine enabled us to have a perfectly made lattes or cappuccinos with the tap of a button. This place has thought of everything. This hotel is the most quaint and beautiful hotel I’ve ever been in. Every design choice was so intentional- they even have heated bathroom floors! It was SO clean and just gorgeous. Also, the staff was so kind and generous! Brad and Mackenzie especially made me feel just like family. I want to come back to visit this adorable town just to stay at the Fortney. Thank you!!

I came for a show at the Temple theater, which is less than a block away. Room is clean, comfortable and honestly kinda fancy, the bathroom floor is heated which was a welcome surprise. The coffee maker and guest kitchen are a nice touch. Also great restaurants within walking distance. Would stay here again no questions asked.
