Holiday Inn Rock Springs by IHG

We were traveling across country and stayed the night after a 12 hour drive. The room was average the old chicago restaurant had great pizza. When we checked in we were told breakfast was not included in our price, it would be an additional $10.00 for my wife and myself. Since the restaurant didn't open till 600 am and we were wanting to be on the road before that we declined. To my surprise, when we were checking out in the morning we found out that the hotel didn't even offer coffee and we would have to wait on the restaurant to open. No coffee in the lobby??? I have never seen that. I will never stay there again. Directly across the street is a Holiday inn express with coffee and breakfast. We should have stayed there.

Shelby at the front desk was excellent, I am an IHG Diamond member and she went out of her way to help me with my check out. The food at Old Chicago is as good as you can expect. I ordered the Chicago pizza with thin crust. My room was nice and cool. It was clean with no smell of cheap air fresheners.

1. Lobby was a mess and dirty, dust everywhere due to construction / rehab work. It was awful. 2. The baggage carts were hidden back in a hallway. My cart had a wheel missing its rubber tire. The cart was very hard to steer. 3. My room was small, and the bathroom sink soap dispenser was empty. I called the front desk, no one came. After dinner, the soap was still empty, I had to go to the front desk and ask again. 4. The coffee in the pots next to the front desk was awful and lukewarm. 5. The five-dollar breakfast was OK, but the restaurant was not attractive, my waitress had little bedside manner. Bottom line - this is the worst Holiday Inn experience I've ever had, and the price was overly expensive. I would not stay here again.

The hotel appears to have recently been refreshed with new paint and carpets so it looks very nice. The shower was great. The room was very clean and the bed was relatively comfortable, but for us, the bed was a bit soft, and the pillows were definitely too big and too firm. That however is a matter of choice.||Our main issue with the room was they have automated lights that come on full blast if you get out of bed. (probably a lawyers suggestion to prevent falls, but is also really messes with sleep.||The hotel offers lots of public seating areas in the lobby which would make it perfect for business meetings.||We are used to staying in Holiday Inn Express so were surprised when breakfast was not included at the Holiday Inn. The room had a real bad smell to it. They couldn’t change rooms because they were full. Staff was friendly and polite and they also have an Old Chicago restaurant and connected to the hotel. Food was good. Servers were nice and friendly.
