Holiday Inn Express & Suites Elk Grove West I-5 by IHG

Great Location - walkable to restaurants/coffee, easy access to I-5. Room: clean, modern, spacious, but the refillable lotion bottle in the bathroom smelled like mildew, and our 4-person room had only 2 towels. Service: One employee was working (not the 'on shift manager' whose name was posted) as fast as he could to deal with reservations, housekeeping items, refilling the ice water, and several other things, but they really needed to schedule an additional person, because the wait was long for anything. Pool area: not heated, so unswimmable for half the year (even for my child who can usually swim in the cold); the hot tub was closed for repair. Breakfast: adequate for what was expected.

We had two queen beds. BOTH had unwashed linens. Then I spoke to another guest and she said her bedding had unwashed menstruation blood and black sock lint. Totally unacceptable. I honestly can't even believe we stayed but it was so late and we were so tired from traveling. We used a sheet from the cabinet and hoped for the best, but that maid should be fired and banned. The rest of the staff was great, but the housekeeping is single handedly ruining this place. The hotel clerks and the lady running the breakfast were great! Yes, it was very noisy with kids. Yes, the in room sofa was grimy. Yes, the outlet on the nightstand didn't work. Yes, breakfast was a great bonus! Yes, the rest of the place seemed pretty good and the carpet in the room seemed surprisingly clean. Yes it was comparativ

This is the 6th time in 7 months that we've stayed here due to a family member being ill. Our stay this time was for the memorial of said family member The walls are thin but if you're not near the elevator or ice machine it's not too bad This weekend, we had to replace our keycards at least once daily. Saturday, we had to replace them twice! My shower on Sunday, the day of the memorial, was cold and such a light trickle I couldn't wash my hair! My shower on Monday was hot but still just a trickle! I'll wash my hair when I get home! Not sure what's happened over the last 7 months but the price has increased 20% and the value has decreased significantly! We will be finding another hotel to stay at in Sacramento!!!

I had two separate reservations for a one night stay on March 1st. Both rooms had issues. My elderly parents stayed in Room 206. After showering, my mother was unable to open the glass shower door and was subsequently stuck inside the shower. It could have been a very dangerous situation. She had to call out for help, and luckily, my father was in the room. The shower door was misaligned on the track. My father had to gently pry the door open from the bottom to get it to move.||Room 221 had a large amount of mold growing behind the wallpaper. The wallpaper was rippled and loose in the corner, clearly caused by the moisture and mold. You can see the photo that I have attached.||Upon checkout, my parents spoke to the manager, whom assured them that we would receive a refund for our troubles.

Disappointing stay Stayed one night in January 2026. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that guest experience is not a priority here. The room was not clean. There were visible stains, dust, and mold in the room. Bed was defective and maintenance was clearly ignored rather than fixed. Noisy all night too. Staff were indifferent at best and unhelpful when concerns were brought up. There was little to no sense of accountability or apology for the inconveniences. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel to others.
