Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dubuque-West by IHG

This is without a doubt the worst Holiday Inn Express I have ever stayed at. Beds were comfortable but that’s about it. Room isn’t the cleanest, furniture is outdated, especially the TV’s. The TV’s are old and have terrible quality and need replaced. Don’t even get me started on the breakfast. Breakfast was from 7 to 10 AM. I went down at 9 AM, and everything was gone. Some things eventually got replaced, but it took too long, and there were very little hot items available for breakfast. When the eggs were brought out they were cold. Hallways are very tattered and unclean. This hotel is in desperate need of a remodel. If I was in a pinch I would’ve been okay with this stay, but I expect better from Holiday Inn Express.

Positives- location is good. Beds are good. I got a good nights sleep x2. People working there seemed friendly. I really look for the positives in a hotel before the negative… stay at a lot of hotels across the country. Over 150 nights a year. Unfortunately this IHG hotel is not at the top. EVERYTHING is worn out at this property. Reminds me of a airport hotel. 2009 probably new and nothing appears to have been done to keep this property clean and up to date. Wallpaper is scratched up, carpet in hallways and flooring throughout is worn and even dirty in appearance. No attention to any detail on maintenance and cleanliness. For example one of the handles on the side entrance door is loose. The whole place screams out “Renovate me— I’m tired.”— in the rooms- clean enough to sleep, analog s

The staff at this establishment was definitely the high point for me, they greeted us upon checking in and were helpful the entire stay. |I chose this hotel based on my previous positive experiences at Holiday Inn Expresses and the offering of free breakfast. The breakfast was serviceable but very basic, it did save us time and allow us to get on to our day right away. The room was not very clean and our socks were very dirty just walking around in the room. Our room was not serviced during our stay and towels were not replenished, we were able to get some at the front desk, I was just surprised. The pool area was in decent condition and a fun time for my kid. The bed was comfortable but the hotel just feels like it is ready for an overhaul.

Such a comfortable hotel and conveniently located. Bedding felt like I was swallowed in a soft, fluffy cloud. Great accommodating staff. Always super friendly. And did I tell you about the breakfast? So many items and cooked to perfection! No one can say they left there hungry. I can hardly wait to return. The manager is awesome!!!

Just disappointing bc room was not ready when we got there at 3 like it was supposed to be. Then said it would be ready in a couple hours by 5. Then when we did get our room, some parts of room were still dirty. Then we go down to the hot tub. Its more like a warm tub and the jets dont work. All in all a frustrating time when usually this place is really nice.
