Holiday Inn Express & Suites Clinton, an IHG Hotel

This review is for Jo-Jo who works the 11pm - 7am shift. Jo Jo is a welcoming, bright and cheery person, and attentive to the needs of her guests. I arrived after midnight, urgently needing a room to rest after the shocking surprise of my car running over and hitting an object on the highway. Jo-Jo kept me calm and assured me that the local mechanic, Zane’s, was a reputable shop to have my car inspected the next morning before continuing on my travels. She kept the conversation flowing with humor and being able to relate to me on a personal level. Jo-Jo is a 5/5 star employee going above and beyond to make sure you’re safe, unharmed, have all the necessities for your room, and fully explains the ins and outs of the hotel and the area of Clinton. We stayed at this hotel 2/14/25. Initially we were assigned a room that had a foul odor. My wife and I approached Theresa at the front desk. She was very polite, apologetic, and quickly reassigned us to another room. The next room was fine with no issues. The beds were comfortable, quiet and we both slept well. Theresa is an excellent person and we saw her again the next morning upon our departure. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding. Maxine the host aka Max put everything but the kitchen sink out. We had screwy bacon and crispy bacon depending on your preference. Plenty of egg options ….. you could tell she loved her job. Both ladies Theresa and Max were very accommodating and personable. This is the second time staying in this hotel and will be the last. I am an IHG member. Room was 80 when I booked but 98 plus tax when I checked in. Two ladies working the front. Had given keys to someone who had walked in on someone else in that room. Never smiled never said hello. The girl running the computer told the other lady to give me my keys she had to go “pee” and walked off. The rooms are meh. They are old and outdated. Do not expect the white clean look you see on TV commercials or other Holiday Inn’s. This place takes you right back to the 80’s. The room “feels dirty” whether it is or not I can’t say. What I can say is there was hair in my shower and the sink does not drain. I did not mention this to the front desk because from my opinion they hate their job and couldn’t care

Jojo warmly welcomed us and ensured we had everything we needed. She even found a nice room on the ground floor near an exit for easy access for our yellow lab. Max provided a wonderful hot breakfast and quite a variety of other yummies. She was friendly and enraging in conversation while we dined. We will definitely return!

They do not celebrate IHG reward members! I am diamond elite. They had no idea what that was. I asked for late check out. Working nights.They said no. Rooms are out dated. Smell funny. Water tatse bad. Fridge doesn't keep cool. Curtains do not black out. Bed hard and slanted. A/C doesn't function properly. No USB/USBC charging. Location not great! Dead end road closed Right next to i40. All I could hear and sleep to were the sounds of engine breaks from Semi trucks slowing down for elkcity speed zone. There was on going long term construction 100 ft from the building. Reverse beepers from he equipment all day. Staff were unprofessional, Overbearing, and disgruntled. Day/Shift not communicating simple direct request. Not knowledgeable with IHG standards. You will get a different answer on
