Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charleston NW - Cross Lanes by IHG

Arrived around 9pm after a long, stressful day of moving and driving and this was one of the best IHG experiences, due greatly to Grace at the front desk. She was extremely helpful and empathetic, and helped us with parking our truck and trailer. I appreciated the complimentary bottles of water and personalized note from cleaning staff. This would've been a 4 star review because parking for larger trucks with trailers was less than ideal, but customer service and facilities knocked it out of the park. Would recommend to anyone passing through the area.

Charleston, WV is about the halfway point on a multi state drive I make a couple times a year. We look for clean, comfortable, and affordable hotels, and easy access to the hwy for an overnight stop. A bit of a challenge in this area in our experience. This hotel’s Cross Lanes WV location is perfect for my Southbound route. Gas stations and adequate restaurants nearby (good enough for a travel night e.g. Cracker Barrel or Bob Evans). We opted for takeout from nearby Cracker Barrel. I have stayed in this hotel several times over the last several years. This stay was the first after they completed their renovation. They’ve done a nice job. Hotel feels fresh. First, some shoutouts: the front desk staff and the breakfast staff were great! The breakfast was delicious, especially the biscuits and gravy. The price was right for our stay on our road trip home. The hotel lobby and breakfast area were both clean and well-lit. The beds are amazingly comfortable! That said, some aspects of the stay were a little off. When we arrived, we noticed that we didn't have any towels or linens and half a roll of toilet paper. The shower head height was for someone 5'8", not 6'4" like I am. That's not a big deal. I'm used to it. The bathroom needed a new shower curtain rod, though, and it looked like there was a bit of mold in the corners of the shower and on the ceiling. THE absolute BEST HIG Express ice been in!! The only complaint I have is the bathroom sink. It's a beautiful room, but that sink. I'm only 5'1 and I can't even imagine how a child would get up there to wash their hands or brush their teeth. I almost had my neck on the edge of the bowl trying to keep my spit from rolling down my chin. It wasn't pretty. The bowl is just too big. Otherwise, the staff was so pleasant. The breakfast room was fantastic! The breakfast was awesome! And, the breakfast lady was adorable!! Oh... and the room was phenomenal! All the extra touches... priceless! We only stayed one night, but when we come back that way, we'll definitely stay there again.

My semi truck broke down and came here because of the food choice at the bottom of the hill. But I have to say the staff, from front desk to the maintenance are all so friendly and helpful. They made me feel like I was part of their family. As of right now been here for almost a week. But it’s been awesome. I only gave 4* for location only because of the hazardous intersection you have to go through to get to the correct road for the hotel. I would definitely use again.
