Holiday Inn Express & Suites Blacksburg - University Area by IHG

We were in town for a volleyball tournament. Quite literally one of the best hotels my family has stayed at. Super clean, fresh smell, comfortable beds, and friendly staff. Breakfast was eh…so so, but you really can’t complain if it’s free. LOL… I would definitely stay again. Other hotels need a few tips on how to keep up their locations like this one.

We recently had the opportunity to stay at the Holiday Inn in Blacksburg and had a great experience. Check-in and check-out were both very easy. Our room was large, with a king bed, pull-out couch, mini-fridge, microwave, and a sink. The location was convenient—right off the exit and just a few miles from Virginia Tech. Breakfast was included and had something for everyone, including pancakes, turkey sausage, eggs, and more. They also offer coffee, hot chocolate, and tea all day, which was a nice bonus. If the rates didn’t increase so much during busy times, we’d definitely stay here more often.

Rooms were spacious but not very clean. There was a huge brown stain on the couch, and when we opened it to be a sleeper sofa for my son, the sheets underneath were stained and disgusting. Sink in the bathroom didn’t drain and there was a large stain in the shower. Walked down to let front desk know the sheets were filthy and they handed me a new set to change myself so I had no gloves to pull off the dirty sheets. Picked this hotel because their website listed breakfast at 6:30, which was earlier than some of their neighbors and we wanted to get on the road. Breakfast was not actually offered until 7, and at 6:30, even the cooler with milk and yogurt was still locked. Feel like they could have at least had the bagels and cereal out and unlocked the cooler even if hot items weren’t ready s

Positive: Staff were welcoming, professional, and caring about our stay. Great location. Hot breakfast had everything we wanted. We stayed in a large room that included a seating area and kitchenette--perfect. We would definitely want to stay there again. Negative: ""

I really tried to like this hotel, but just couldn’t. We stayed in here for a VT home game. Pros: •Location! Excellent, but that’s about it… •Front desk was nice, I only interacted with one person during our 2 day stay, she was pleasant & helpful. •Huge room! •beds were comfy Cons: •Paid $$$$ for our weekend since it was a big VT home game. •Rooms were subpar. Carpets smelled, toilet was covered in poop splatters, pull out couch had some funky “white” stains. •A/C turned on and off every minute on the minute, so a good nights sleep was constantly interrupted. All in all, it’s a Holiday Inn, so don’t expect much.
