Holiday Inn Express & Suites Abilene by IHG

The room was absolutely filthy. The wind is actually had dirt on them, especially the pillowcase. The key wouldn’t work to open the door, so it took three trips from the front desk to get the door to open. In general, like so many of these Holiday Inn expresses can be. It was pretty much a dump. And they had no other rooms to offer, so they were absolutely no help. If we hadn’t gotten here so late, we would’ve gone somewhere else. But we cleaned the room up ourselves enough to make it through the night. Well done, Holiday Inn Express.

Sarah at front desk was very sweet and friendly! My bed was so comfortable, I had a very good night's sleep! The view of the pool outside my window was amazing. The room was very clean. I woke up and had a wonderful breakfast with bacon. The chef Laura was very helpful even brought me coffee. 😁

Update on 12-19-25: Management responded to this review with a comment about a "pet identified in the guest room"... this is absolutely not true. Before we ever even got to our room, when we were checking in, the front desk clerk craned her head over the counter, looked at my dog, then went right back to typing on her keyboard. I thought she was typing something normal about the number of guests, plus my golden retriever, who stayed obediently right there by my side. I recall thinking it was kind of weird because I didn't know what she was typing (or even what she was thinking at the moment?) but If the front desk clerk had just kindly mentioned something about my pet (a question within her legal realm) I would have at least h

Where do I even start? If you’ve ever wondered what a $35-a-night motel experience feels like at $140 a night, this is the place for you. I stayed here for 8 days and didn’t receive room service once. I asked multiple times and got a new excuse each day. By day six, I finally just asked for a housekeeping cart and cleaned the room myself. Yes, really. I attached a photo of my vacuuming my room as proof. On top of that, a surprising number of things were broken. The room safe didn’t work, the shower diverter valve barely functioned, several outlets were dead, and the side doors of the hotel didn’t latch or secure properly. The tragic comedy in all of this was that the maintenance guy was easy to find at any time—usually sitting on the couch near the front desk. Speaking of the front desk

During my twenty-five years of business travel, this is the absolute worst hotel I stayed in. Staff not welcoming, didn’t add my Diamond 500 welcoming points, front desk stated they don’t do this. IHG stated otherwise and added my points. The young lady at check in and check out, is the worst in the business. Rooms are outdated, not cleaned properly, and breakfast was a joke! I don’t recommend this property nor will return. Based on below reviews, I’m on point with what others are saying. Before you book a reservation, review all the one star reviews from the past six months, then ask yourself would you stay here?
