Even if the hotel is best in town, I’d recommend to look (drive) further. Realizing that this is a relatively cheap two-star hotel, I was expecting more. First of all, the rooms show significant wear and tear, and the beds are really old. Second, if your room happens to overlook the adjacent trailer park and you are a light sleeper, get your earplugs ready - the dogs kept parking well after the midnight. The fact, that the bathroom didn’t have amenities was a minor nuisance, as was the way the receptionist who checked us in looked like he had been partying for a few days in a row - his shirt was dirty, full of weird stains.
The experience at this hotel began poorly because I was given a room key for an occupied room. That had never ever happened to me before. I opened the door and saw toiletries in the bathroom and an open suitcase. This was 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Scary. The breakfast was too crowded with not enough room to sit with my friends. And, many items at breakfast were depleted.
We recently traveled 9 days/8 nights across the southeast and stayed at 8 different hotels: 5 Holiday Inn Expresses & 3 Holiday Inns. I will submit a review for each hotel and rate them based on the usual factors plus in comparison with others of the same IHG brand: 4th night-Holiday Inn Express-Plymouth, NC This hotel was going to receive a 2/5 for its rating until breakfast made it a 3 and the manager at check-out then made it a 4! It was not an HIE "and suites" so I wasn't expecting an upgrade, but we were given a larger room than expected, at least in set-up, #203. I could see my car from the window. The light by the bed (side closer to the bathroom) didn't work. I wasn't sure if it was the bulb or the apparatus? There was an ice bucket but no ice machines anywhere, but we did get
Great staff! Room was a little dark for my aesthetic pleasing, but the room was nice and the shower hot with great water pressure. Let's talk about the breakfast bar!!! The biscuits and gravy...hot damn!!! So good especially for a hotel breakfast bar. Enjoyed out stay and will stay again!
Not the worst holiday inn I’ve stayed at but very far from the best. Room is mostly clean, some questionable areas. Bathroom toilet and tub re-caulked in a hurry. Water pressure is nonexistent, Toilets are super short which is not ideal if you are a man or an older person. Coffee was like mud, had to stop at a McDonald’s. They did have breakfast but not the full spread of fruit and all that. Wires hanging out all over the place for the phone and TV. Rooms seem to be kept strategically a little darker or there’s just not enough light so you don’t look at anything too closely. At least there was direct TV
