Holiday Inn Express la Plata by IHG

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in La Plata Md. 19 Feb. to 21 Feb. There were so many problems with this place I don't know where to begin. The money we spent to stay here was way too much. I have stayed in Holiday Inn Express hotels in the past and all over the world. I have enjoyed my stays at each one. This was a huge disappointment and the money was WAY too much for what we experienced. First - Location: It is in a dangerous area. I spent the daytime hours away but when I returned at night, the things I saw in the surrounding area had me rushing my child in the front door of the hotel. Second - Deceitful Marketing: I chose that hotel because of the pool. The IHG app had an amazing picture of the swimming pool. That pool is why I chose to stay there over a few other hotel

Positive: Like the change in breakfast menu. We liked the variety of the hot food choices. Also, we liked that there were apples in the lobby available to enjoy for a snack! Negative: In the fitness room, there was no bench to sit to use the dumb bells.

The first room I checked into had crumbs on the sheets and there was either melted chocolate or feces between the matress and the box springs. The staff was responsive and quickly moved us. The second room had clean sheets but the pillow cases were so wrinkled I had to wonder if they had been slept on. The bathroom door would not close, so we had to place a carry on in the bathroom so we could keep the door closed when using the bathroom or taking a shower. There were chunks out of the wall in the bathroom. The tv wouldn't work so I went to the front desk where they explained how to reprogram it. I was able to do it, but someone less tech savy may have difficulty. The room smelled musty, had no idea why until we were ready for bed and I went to close the curtains and water squishe

We traveled from TX 11/26/25-11/28/25 to spend Thanksgiving for 2 days with our entire MD Family, and stayed in room 411. All Staff were friendly, the hotel was beautiful and very clean, the room was spacious/felt comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. The sweet lady in charge of breakfast kept everything so clean, well stocked, hot, and fresh. We do not like to complain but as paying patrons of a very nice Hotel that we spend a good penny on, we have to voice our concern in which we would like to be contacted by Management. Our room had a door which could have led to an adjoining room, but was not used because we did not have any other Friends or Family traveling with us. During the first night (11/26/2025), my Family went to bed at 10 PM. Right after midnight, we were rudely awakened

Where to begin? ~Deep in thought~ I arrived around 1pm with the faint illusion of an early check-in. Hoping to steal a cheeky 2 hours from the ‘IHG man’ only to be foiled by the front desk receptionist who very curtly responded to my polite request with “Check in is at 3pm. None of the rooms are clean yet. I’m sorry.” I was heartbroken, destitute. How could she rebuff me without even pretending to clack away at the keyboard??
