Holiday Inn Boone - University Area by IHG

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn - University Area in Boone, North Carolina, and it was a wonderful experience. Mary at the front desk was exceptionally welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, which was very helpful. Arturo also assisted me with a billing issue regarding my card, and he handled it efficiently. All the staff I encountered was helpful, polite, and accommodating. The room was clean, quiet, and provided a peaceful atmosphere for a good night’s sleep. The hotel remained peaceful during the day. Making it a good atmosphere for working or resting. The beds were comfortable, and everything was in working order. Although I didn’t use the pool and hot tub, they appeared well-maintained. I booked this hotel through Capital One Travel a month ahead of time. I showed up to the hotel at 9pm and was told that they overbooked the hotel and that did not have a room. I was told that there was nothing that they could do for me. I was able to find another hotel in Boone but had to pay a premium for the stay. I went from using points to stay to having to pay $500 for a two-night stay at another hotel on my own dime. I reached out to Holiday Inn customer service, and they had the owner of the hotel reach out to me. I asked him to compensate me for the difference it the rate of the room that I had to stay and the room that I originally booked. He told me that he wasn't going to do that and that I was just out of luck. So don't book here you might have to sleep in your car after drivin

The hotel advertisement shows an indoor pool, it has been closed by county inspectors for 15+ months as of my visit. The rooms have been updated, but they need new mattresses. The rooms were very clean, but the carpet in the hallway needs to be repaired as it wasn’t installed correctly. The traffic noise is loud. Despite all of this, the front desk and the room attendants were all pleasant and the stay was reasonably good. The owners need to invest in the pool, mattresses, and hallway carpets.

I loved my stay here. The staff was so kind and helpful. The hotel and my room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and the linen perfect. I slept beautifully. Amazing location and I was able to explore locally and areas not far such as Banner Elk. I was even able to hop on The Blue Ridge Parkway for a few hours! I cannot wait to come back. This will be my go to when the mountains are calling my name. I felt safe and comfortable during my stay

Great hotel! Great location! Great staff… but the last few times we’ve been here the pool was closed off and the second elevator was also closed. That’s 2 years in a row… but the rooms are great, also meaning we can’t hear anyone else in their rooms. The beds are super comfortable and the pillows are great. Everything is very clean. There is a tv, closet, coffee maker and little refrigerator. The staff is kind and welcoming. There is no free breakfast though (just an fyi) but there is a great little brewery a 2 minute walk away and there’s a Wendy’s and Bojangles literally a1-2 minute walk away also. It’s a very good location and good place to stay.
