This is a great place to stay. It fit 5 of us comfortably. Private fire pit area. Lots of firewood available. Full kitchen. Beds were comfy. Plenty of fresh air. Close to alot of interesting places. I would stay here 100 times over.
REALLY ENJOYED STAYING AT THE CABIN AND HAVING OUR THANKSGIVING DINNER THERE. MY NIECE AND HER HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTER STAYED IN THE CABIN NEXT TO US AND WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME WITH OUR FAMILY DOING OUR THANKSGIVING DINNER.
This was our 3rd time staying at Hemlock Rest. Just left this afternoon and once again it was a great trip! We stayed in cabin #6. The cabins have always been very clean and decorated so cute! Almost everything is provided for you, with the exception of bedding (blankets and pillows) which we like, and your own personal toiletries. Firewood and kindling are provided which is a huge plus! The cabins are tucked away just far enough from the main road to feel secluded, yet close enough to all the trails and other activities the park offers. The cabin was very roomy and cozy and more space then some of the other higher priced places we have stayed. We love Cook Forest and will continue to book our stay here each year!
The stay was ok, but would not be on the top of my list to return. It was affordable and available, and the experience reflects that. Cabin 3 and 4 are pretty close to the road so you hear the traffic all night. We had cabin 4 and experienced issues with mice immediately upon arrival. Naturally being in a rustic/rural area this can happen but we caught and removed 3 within the first 24 hours which typically means there is a greater issue than just one sneaking in, as well as there was ample evidence of mice under the sink that had not been cleaned up. The base of the shower was cracked and flexed as you stood, and be sure to bring a light sheet or towel to hang in front of the bathroom window as the curtains don't cover it and it faces directly into the driveway.
