Hecla Junction Campground

Was surprised for $28.00 a night, there was no trash cans in the campground or area. Had to pack all trash back out. Site was nice, but does not have any shade. Would not stay again due to cost.

Very well-maintained, campground and right on the Arkansas river. The views were good and the night guy was awesome. Close proximity to Salida, and not terribly far from Denver. Not sure if I’ll ever need to go there again, but I would recommend it to others.

Great escape to get outdoors and enjoy nature. Rafting on the river and a beautiful hiking trail that is conveniently placed alongside the river

Beautiful, well maintained campsites on the river. Clean pit toilets available. Campsites have decent privacy and space between. With the river sound in the background, it helps dampen noise from your neighbors nearby. Great spot for rafting overnights/logistics! Att cell range coverage is good.

Great, well laid out campsite tucked a good 15 mins off the highway and by the Arkansas River. Well maintained dirt road access. Some steeps and curves but nothing scary, just take your time. The river side sites have trails down to the river (maybe50 feet below). Great views and very quiet at night. No water or electric so bring everything you need. RV spots are well maintained and pretty level. Each site has a tent site too along with picnic table. We live about 1.5h away and this is a regular weekend bolt hole for us. With Salida and it's great restaurants and biking just down the road this campsite will remain a favorite in the area.
