Heart of Yellowstone Ranch

I stayed here with 2 friends and we had a lovely time. We spent 2 nights in the Grand Farm House which is beautiful with incredible floor to ceiling views of Hart Mountain and the surrounding area. We then had one additional night in the Teepee, a nice change of pace with some great star gazing. If you stay, be sure to get up for the cowboy breakfast which is simple but delicious and farm fresh (might change but we had pancakes, sausage, and coffee). I look forward to returning here whenever I'm able.

We stayed here on the way to yellowstone. Its pretty close to Cody - about 15 min. It is hard to find, the iPhone map not accurate! Rod and his wife are wonderful, easy to reach. They greet you personally and walk you through the property. The teepee was big and set up with cots and thick sleeping bags. We had extra bedding, which we did use as it gets pretty cold at night. The sunset was spectacular! stars amazing! It is super quiet - can't hear anything except coyotes. Rod made a fabulous breakfast for us outside at tables near the teepee, which huge pancakes and his home made organic sausage. We so enjoyed visiting this place and the wonderful people who share their land and farm with visitors. They gave us great tips for our trip. Just a fantastic experience.

Rod's Big Quiet Camping is very unique! The site is a short distance away from the Heart Mountain Internment Camp museum. When you see the sign for the Camp, you turn there and drive past the Camp and head up the same road. Very easy to find - the most difficult part was finding the left into the Big Quiet Camping, if you aren't paying attention! There is a nice big sign indicating the left turn. || ||The teepee we stayed in was a Range one - a teepee that holds 2 people - with a wooden floor, super comfortable cots and nice warm sleeping bags. There are also a couple of larger teepees, a sheepherders wagon, a yurt and small wall tents to stay in. ||||We were able to have a campfire to take off the chill. Even though it was hot during the day, after the sun set, it got quite chilly

This is a beautiful property. However, the marketing is extremely misleading. After a year planning a trip with my sisters that had not been together in years, we thought this was the perfect place to go....solitude and beauty. However, there was zero privacy or solitude...the upstairs where the owners live was not separated at all from the basement we rented. It was a complete open floor plan. There was not a private entrance, so we had to walk through their living space to get downstairs. No door at the base of the staircase either. There is a lights out policy of 9:30pm, which I don't know about you, but when I'm on vacation, I don't want to go to bed at 9:30, especially when they boast "the best star gazing" and stars don't come out in Wyoming until at least 10pm in the summer. What a great stay! 20 minute drive from Cody. Quiet wonderfulness out on the farm. Beautiful, eclectic, and artsy house. Comfortable and relaxing. Great place to unplug. Leave the laptop and phone in the car! More than a night or 2 to really appreciate the experience. Must visit!
