Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Oakland/Alameda

We had a King Studio Suite for a weekend. Nothing exciting about this hotel other than being on Webster close to a lot of cool stores and the like. Pretty plain. Effecient. Although not exciting room, we really enjoyed our stay. Lots of counter space, both my wife and I spread out all our stuff, with room to spare. (Sometimes we fight over bathroom space, when it’s not enough.). We were on front on the building, on 3rd floor and did not have any noise problem. The breakfast spread was actually pretty decent for being what it was. Staff was nice, although when i asked about the courtesy bikes, was told they have not been available since Covid, and that the website was never updated (wtf?). Regardless we would stay here again, no problem.

Nice clean hotel on main strip in Alameda. Free parking. Free breakfast. Our room was studio suites with couch and wet bar with microwave and mini fridge. No issues during our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was nicer than the included breakfast at other hotels. Included different kind of eggs each morning and either sausage or bacon, make-your-own waffles, cereal bar, bread, bagels, muffins, yogurt, fruit, coffee, etc. Will definitely stay here next time we are in the Bay Area.

Positive: Perfect location for shopping and dining.I have stayed here many times and feels more residential; I feel very safe at this location.Staff is very friendly and helpful. Negative: Elevator is slow and makes grinding noise; but it hasn't changed since about 4 years ago. BUT STILL WORKS!

What a fantastic place to stay! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Plenty of counter space in the bathroom, which is always a plus. The shower was great; the bed was perfect. I really liked the extra sitting area in the room (with the small sofa/couch). Perfect for reading, working on a laptop or just relaxing. An excellent hotel!

For staying in Alameda, this hotel is adequate. It is clean and provides basic comforts. The breakfast is typical of this type of hotel- nothing fancy but they did have scrambled eggs and bacon which was a nice touch. There are not a lot of choices in Alameda. More choices across the bridge, but we wanted to stay on the island so accepted fewer amenities. Value for the low price we paid was good. I recommend this hotel if basic comforts are enough. It is in a good location for walking around or touring Alameda. The only improvement would be that the front desk staff would be more friendly. They didn't seem happy, with short answers and no smiles. But it didn't diminish our impression of the hotel overall.
