We chose this campground because it was close to our home just in case we had to work. We were promised one site which should have been a pull thru in a nice section of the campground. When I made the reservation 4 months in advance, they told me which site we would be on. We stayed for 5 days and most of that time was quiet but on Friday and Saturday, there were a lot of permanent site campers. When we checked in, they gave us a completely different site (A12). This site was at an intersection and faced the road. Every time one of the permanent campers would drive their ATVs and golf carts passed our site, we were blinded by their headlights and the noise of at least 50 ATVs made the experience very hard to deal with. We couldn't just sit outside at our fire ring and enjoy our eve
Let’s start with I NEVER leave bad reviews…. But If I could leave negative stars I would. 😂 we booked for the month. We travel with my husband for work. Husband gets there and there is no cell service. WiFi is slim to none. Pictures DO NOT accurately reflect the sites. We made the choice to find other accommodations better suited for us. We were told when he left that we would get full refund minus a $50 cancellation fee. We were refunded less than that. When my husband called to verify, he was greeted with nothing but attitude. Berated and told they were found us a favor by letting us stay! Also beware if you have children, he was told they don’t usually have kids there bc they “cause incidents”. So disappointed in the way my husband and our family was treated. Proceed with caution when l
The staff at the check-in office were very friendly. The roads to access the park are narrow, and the roads inside the park range from new asphalt to broken asphalt and rutted gravel. Our space was a pull-through style, but it was not long enough for a 30-foot motorhome towing a Jeep. The space was generous in width but not nearly level front to rear. The showers did not produce hot water but we're mostly clean. The advertised WiFi was nonexistent in our location, and we had no cellular coverage from Verizon. Large Park with many seasonal and full-time residents. For me, it would have to improve WiFi greatly, repair hot water in restrooms, and spend some time leveling pads before I would even consider a return.
The campground does not allow e-bikes or e-trikes, but you can bring a gas powered side by side, a gas powered gator, gas powered golf cart or 4-wheeler. They make lots of noise. Why not limit just to battery powered golf carts. Much quieter! This has nothing to do with the use of gasoline; we used it to get here. I don't understand this regulation of no e-bikes.
While bike packing the GAP to C&O it was tricky locating a campground in the area. I was glad to find this location that had real restrooms & warm showers. The hills to the campground with all my gear wasn't easy. The soil was very rocky to put a few stakes in. I didn't know exactly where my site was when booking over the phone (tent with electric to charge all my devices) & once I discovered it was in the most further section away from the office I was bothered. Fortunately the ladies in the office heard my concerns & relocated me near the bathhouse without an additional charge. It instantly made me feel safer as a solo female rider. Thank you!! I appreciate the picnic table & ability to charge my expensive gear at my site. The only weird part was how empty the campground was but I arrive
