Hampton Inn & Suites Myrtle Beach/Oceanfront

I recently stayed at this hotel for a quick beach trip, and overall I had a positive experience especially with the staff. Check-in at the front desk with Sue was smooth and welcoming. The hotel staff were friendly and professional throughout my stay. There was also a gentleman working during breakfast on Sunday morning (I didn’t catch his name) who was especially helpful and attentive. Yeah, I don’t have a red shirt and long hair. Service like that truly makes a difference. That said, there were a couple of downsides. My oceanfront room had a noticeable wet dog smell, which was disappointing. Also, the $25 per night parking fee feels excessive. I’ve chosen to stay at this property for quick beach trips over the last 10 years, and unfortunately, the parking situation alone will likely keep

Positive: Hotel employee were superb. They went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. I love the fact we were right on the ocean had an ocean view from our balcony. Continental breakfast was great. The room was very spacious. Negative: The carpet had spots on it.

This was a great stay. Seems like every room is ocean view, which is cool. Steps from the beach, it’s a great location. The pool was closed when we were there, but it looked nice, with a lazy river, hot tub, and a food truck kind of thing. Staff was all very nice, helpful and accommodating. The onsite restaurant was tasty with great views and lovely service, we were there for taco Tuesday featuring $6 margaritas! We had the carne Asada, which was delicious with big tender chunks of beef. Breakfast was typical Hampton Inn style with scrambled eggs, etc one day, and biscuits and gravy the next. I just wish they had non-pork protein options. Room was big, clean and spacious. The heat/ac unit wasn’t working when we got there but they sent someone up right away who quickly got it going.

I’m not sure what’s going on with Hampton Inn lately, but my past few stays have been disappointing. We checked in on Christmas Day for a two-night stay and were immediately disappointed by the cleanliness of the room. The floors, furniture, and surface areas were visibly dirty, which is unacceptable for a brand that’s usually reliable.||On the positive side, breakfast was decent, and parking was discounted to $10 per night due to the off-season, which was appreciated. The oceanfront view was great and was easily the best part of the stay.||Overall, the view and a few small conveniences didn’t make up for the lack of cleanliness. This stay fell well below expectations for a Hampton Inn, and unfortunately continues a pattern from recent visits.

Upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite. Loved the full size kitchen. Not a fan of paid parking even with the 50% discount for staying. They lock the doors to the pool and outside gates at night. We didn't know that and was a small inconvenience when taking our dog for a walk before bed. The free breakfast left much to be desired. Not sure if being off season had anything to do with it but even our dog wouldn't eat the eggs or sausage we didn't want. He literally spit the food out. Other than that, check in was great. Room was clean with comfy beds. My husband loved the bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom. Great views of the ocean. There weren't any luggage carts when we arrived and only a few upon check out. Would stay again now that we know what to expect and for it being dog friendly.
