Hampton Inn & Suites Lamar

We were forced to look outside State College due to two large sporting events being held on campus. We drove 30 minutes to this hotel. Although a bit outside of town it was worth the drive. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. 10 minutes after we got to our room they contacted us to make sure our room was satisfactory and to see if we needed anything else. The room was large, recently updated and very clean. I would definitely use this hotel again.

Good hotel, good room with a view of the mountain ridge. I paid $136 per night total for room with 2 queen beds which had all the features you can want, including in-room coffee. The free breakfast is very good with eggs, meat, waffles in an attractive room. Staff is friendly, helpful. Problems: the pool was closed during my January 2026 visit, heater in room was difficult to control, requiring use of "emergency heat" setting, and the 3rd floor ice machine made a huge noise. So I can't say this motel is a good value for the dollar.

Positive: front staff was friendly and accommodating, even with our late check-in. Love that small toiletries are eliminated, and the products offered were lovely. Negative: Bathroom redesign was weird, especially the sink. The faucet didn't come out far enough and the sink protruded so it wet the front of my shirt when I leaned forward.

This is such a nice place! Beautiful view of the mountains outside your window. Incredibly friendly staff who are always happy to talk to you, like you’re their friend. So kind! |Also, their complimentary breakfasts are so good, so much delicious variety. Most of the time they put complimentary cookies out in the lobby just in case, and usually have complimentary coffee later in the day. (Of course there’s coffee at breakfast) If there’s not any coffee the you can just ask and they’ll be happy to bring it out. |Their lobby is so comfy and the chairs are nice. They have a variety of channels on tv, 60 I believe.|The beds are so comfortable and the rooms are all around very nice. Definitely spotless! I got very good sleep there. Very quiet.|Hope this helps!!

Driving home from NYC and needed a place as far east before the snowstorm. Very impressed with the newly renovated property. Easy check-in, and the room was very clean. Crystal at the front desk provided exceptional customer service, helping us find a local pizza joint that delivered on New Year's Eve. If you're looking for accommodations while travelling, I would highly recommend this hotel. In fact, if you're a PSU fan and/or a travelling B1G fan, this hotel is within a 30 mile radius of PSU.
