Hampton Inn Charleston - Daniel Island

My wife and I stayed here two nights, as part of our 50th Anniversary celebration. We were very impressed by the location, which, in addition to being surrounded by a lot of beautiful trees and landscaping, it is in a very quiet location, away from any highway or industrial noises. The lobby was decorated beautifully for the holidays as well.||The staff was very welcoming and polite when we arrived. Kyla was at the front desk when we arrived, and she couldn’t have been more pleasant to work with. My hat is off to the management of this property for having someone like her in their employ. ||Kyla completed the check-in process quickly and painlessly, and she truly is an asset to this hotel! Upon entering, we were greeted by a lobby that had been decorated beautifully for the holidays. The front desk employee was very polite, greeting us with a smile as we walked in. Her name was Kyla, and she couldn’t have been more pleasant to work with. She made the check-in process quick and effortless. Within 30 minutes of us checking in, Kyla texted to make sure that everything in our room was satisfactory. Run away from this hotel!!! After finding two very live bugs on our beds, where we had just slept we were digsuted! The AC unit was extremeley loud, made it hard to sleep. The shower handle had two settings because it was broken, freezing or scalding. The staff working the breakfast, dropped tongs used for cheese, left them on the floor for a good minute, then placed them back on the counter for guests to use! I asked him if they were on the floor, he said yeah - like it was not a big deal! |With the price we paid for the room, and an avid traveler, this is not the standard we expected from a Hampton Inn. I did ask for the GM to contact me, the front desk staff was mortified when I was speaking with her and said someone would call me. It has been 3 days with no response. I guess

Positive: Hotel was very clean and in a quite location. Breakfast was good (normal hotel breakfast) it was hot and well stocked. Overall it was a very nice place Negative: Pool was closed. Not sure why. The lady at the front desk was nice and informative at check in but snappy when we tried to ask her about local restaurants.

LIVE BUGS, dirty breakfast bar, and dirty rooms- BEWARE!!!! Unfortunately we did not have a great stay, and will not return. The front desk staff was very friendly at check in, and gave us lots of information. Once in the room, we struggled to get the AC going and comfortable. Later that evening, my daughter tried to shower, and the handle would not stay put. The options were scalding hot or freezing cold. The AC was extremely loud and rattled. When we woke up, there was a bug, looked to be a roach, on my headboard of the bed. I was disgusted to say the least and also concerned that it wasn't something worse. The staff asked how things were going, we informed them of our issues. They assured us the room was cleaned and serviced. We went back that afternoon, it seemed as nothing was
