Hacienda Del Sol

We stayed in the motorlodge in a spacious room with a simple, modern vibe. Room: very comfy bed and pillows, one chair and a long bench. Nice decor. The floor is concrete with no rugs. Thin walls: I could hear someone snoring in the room next door. Bathroom: Fantastic water pressure, very clean, loved the heater in the bathroom (but may not be safe for kids). There was no hand soap so had to step into the shower for body wash. The closet had a fancy steamer for wrinkled clothes. There's a safe but it was locked shut in our room. We enjoyed the grounds and pool. Never saw the lobby staffed during our two night stay, but could text if we needed something. Excellent location for accessing everything in town and great for visiting different parts of Anza Borrego State Park.

Hacienda del Sol is restoring a Mid-Century Modern motel for a new generation of guests. We really enjoyed the chance to stay here. Our casita is very comfortable and the setting is lovely and quiet. There are some minor issues in the room but they haven't affected our enjoyment..

Stayed in a casita. Great location within walking distance to restaurants, shops, grocery store, and Art museum. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We used the pool, played shuffle board and horse shoes. Enjoyed sitting on the patio in the evening and for morning coffee. Comfy beds!

The reviews and photos from more than 2 years ago are before they remodeled the hotel. Thankfully it doesn’t look like that anymore! (Mostly on the inside). Casitas are like duplex and you share a wall with the next room guests. The walls are not super thin but we could hear a murmur. It wasn’t too bad. The hotel was overall extremely clean, and the sheets were all clean. It has a mixed charm of old and new and I love the brick walls and the big windows. The mountain views were astonishing and the private patio that comes with casita was perfect for stargazing. Has heater and AC. Casita is fully equipped and kind of like a one bedroom apartment with the brick walls separating the spaces with no doors (super cool old building concept!). Hacienda Del Sol is THE PLACE TO STAY IN BORREGO!! The renovation is amazing and prices reasonable. The rooms and Casita's are impeccably clean and it is such a serene environment. Well appointex accomodations. Staff is super friendly and accomodating. Amy called to let me know a key fob had been found waaay under the bed, which shows how well the rooms are cleaned.
