We drove through this area to check it out for reference. Normally, we have found blm campgrounds to be among the best…whether they are free or paid. This was a real disappointment. It was right beside the freeway, the dumpster (well there is one) was overflowing. There is no water available…and the sites were really overgrown…and it costs $20 a night. There is river access and vault toilets.
We were driving through Vail as we decided to stop at the hot springs. Had a great time, and needless to say we were ready to bunker down. We stopped at this little 8 spot camp ground right off of I 70. Beautiful view just a tad noisy
Nothing here but about 8 sites and a couple of vault toilets. 100yds to Colorado River. Road noise from I-70 100yds away also.
Picture is the view from our site. The campground runs parallel to the highway and on the other side there is a gun range so depending on your personal sleep needs consider these things. I grew up next to the freeway so it didn't bother me. There is a creek close by.
