We actually camped at a site before this former campground for 2 nights. On side road with a small pull out with a view. Fire pit already present but we didn't have a fire - not after all the CO fires in the past 2 years and it was warm well into the evening. Got a lightning show in the distance after a spectacular sunset.

Beautiful spot to unplug and relax! We camped here for a couple of nights to explore the area. No bathroom, showers, tables, etc. It's free and there are only about 10 spots so you have to arrive early to get a spot, but so worth it.

Beautiful, secluded campground. Takes about 45mins to get up to it from the main road (4x4 highly suggested) but as others mention, well worth it. A collared bear cautiously approached our site while we were cooking, which freaked out my gf so much that she had is packed up before I finished eating lol. Was funny to hear his progress to other sites as ppl set off their alarms and yelled. Definitely returning... sans gf of course lol.

Typical beautiful Colorado scenery. However, when I asked at the White Forest office in Glenwood Springs, there was "nothing of note" that I should've been aware of. However, after traveling coffee pot springs road 23 Oct (no problems in my Ford Expedition) I discovered the Coffee Pot Springs campground closed. Definitely something I should've been advised of.
