Note that only cash or check payments are accepted. 50% discount available with interagency annual pass. I’ve camped here several times. It’s a great launching point for backpacking in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, especially if, like me, you’re driving in from a distance. This is a fairly quiet campground without a ton of amenities, although what is available is nice. Each campsite has a fire ring and a picnic table. During the regular season, there is potable water, restrooms, showers, and some sites have electricity. There is a playground area, a volleyball court, a horseshoe pit, a shallow swimming area formed by the stream, and even an amphitheater (not sure if it’s ever used for anything). There’s even a basketball goal (without a net, though). If you feel like going

Love this campground. It’s so quiet and peaceful. Bathroom/Showers were nice and clean water was nice and hot while taking showers. The shower was made so you don’t have to continually push the knob for continuous flow of water. It was a nice natural pool of water that kids can play in a playground area and nice hiking trails. The check in staff are really friendly as well.

Large portion of the campground is closed currently. But the loop of campsites that are open are pretty secluded from each other and nice sites! Pit toilet was very clean during our visit and the campground was not very busy. Overall enjoyed our stay! No phone service.

We tent camped September this year. Our activities included Virginia Creeper bike ride and hiking Mt Rodgers to see the wild ponies nearby. Our three camp sites were great. We had a double and two regular sites. Ample room for multiple tents as we decided to social distance as Covid is a concern. Cell service is sketchy at best but great to unplug for a weekend with 8 young adults. If hiking, download your maps beforehand if possible or pick up maps. Campground personnel are golden. Bobby is a True Gem. Following the Virginia Creeper (outfitters Creeper Trail Bike Rental & Shuttle) on Friday we found Backbone Rock Recreation Area in Cherokee National Forest to explore. Nice little park to explore. Great for a picnic. Hiking Mt Rogers had access from the campground. The restrooms had hot wa

Nice campground. Usually pretty good hosts. Good amount of sites with privacy. Very woodsy and natural. There is a few easy trails and even a amphitheater. It's kinda on the side of a deep forested mountain. Typically busy on the weekends but fairly quiet during the week. I think they close during the winter.
