Gloucester By the Sea Motel

My wife and I decided to take a trip to Salem, MA and we looked for accommodations in the area and found 0 availability. We decided to take a chance in Gloucester, MA and sure enough, we found the perfect oasis. This hotel isn't your ordinary hotel, but the view couldn't be perfect. It overlooks the sea, like literally and sitting outside enjoying your coffee in the AM, hearing the waves hit the rocks is breath taking. The rooms are comfortable and you feel like you are in your own cottage. The AC system is by the window, easy to handle, and the pressure of the shower is incredible. The main lobby is a lovely sitting area with well rounded staff and owners. I had the opportunity to meet the owners and I cannot express how helpful, professional, and kind they all were during our stay

I stayed at this Inn for 3 nights in July and the view alone is worth every penny. While I had crap weather for most of the time I was there, the one sunny day I had I awoke to an incredible sunrise. I walked to good harbor beach, hung by the pool, and took in the views and beautifully landscaped grounds. Plenty of fishing action on the rocks, my first minute on the grounds I saw a fisherman walk up from the rocks with an incredible striped bass.||Room was clean and is what I expected from a small privately owned inn. They didn’t open in 2020 due to covid which is why there aren’t any current reviews. I was offered a cart to roll all my things to the beach but brought my own. Staff was nice and attentive to what I needed. I would stay again!

After dropping our daughter at umass Amherst, I didn’t want to rush home to start our empty nest, especially since our anniversary was on Labor Day weekend. We had room 9 which was two double beds and also a truly handicap accessible room. The owner and Lisa are so friendly. And the views are beautiful. And so quiet. Even sitting on the very large deck in the morning and evening with other patrons at other tables did not feel like anyone was intruding on our space. Would definitely come back here again.

The place is a quaint seaside motel. If you are expecting a resort, this isn't the place for you. The rooms are apparently all decorated differently. Our room was clean and spacious enough. The room has a small kitchenette, that we didn't use as we were only there for 1 night, but I can see how it would be a cozy place to stay for a longer visit. bathroom was a bit dated, but clean and well maintained. The service was very pleasant and the owner was quite friendly and accommodating.

I am happy to provide a positive review for this wonderful property. Being familiar with Gloucester and the Bass Rocks for over 25 plus years, the location is perfect on Atlantic Avenue along the Bass Rocks. Having arrived early during a heat wave, we were warmly welcomed at the front desk.||||Our room was available at 1:00pm which was immaculate and comfortable. The entire inn and grounds are well loved and cared for - the staff and owners are to be commended.
