Our stay at the Franklin Historic Hotel in Deadwood was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the blend of historic charm and modern updates — you can feel the history of this place while still enjoying clean, newly-renovated rooms and super comfortable beds. The location couldn’t be better — right in the middle of everything on Main Street! We were steps away from shops, restaurants, and all of the action, which made exploring Deadwood a breeze.
Staff was completely disresprful. My wife got to the hotel before me and asked for a seperate key to the room. When I arrived and asked for a key the staff behind the counter said she would not issue a key and that I may be involved in domestic violence based on my wife getting two keys beforehand. She then threatened to call the State Police as I voiced my resolution. I ended up talking to the owner and he stated they have a "training issue" and refunded my stay. This was only after we booked two weeks in advance and stayed less than 10 hours from our booking. The lady behind the counter continously rolled her eyes and mocked then continously tried to engage in rude manoriaoms. Remind you this is a 700 dollar booking for two nights. The room was extremely small had zero room for hanging c
Had I read the reviews before I stayed here I would have missed out on a fabulous hotel. The staff is so very helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There is construction going on but they start working after 8 AM and wind it up in time to not interfere with sleep. The location is perfect. It is right in the middle of everything. This has been a great experience. The only reason I didn’t give the room 5 stars is because of the construction that’s going on. In another month I’m sure this will all be a 5 star hotel.
Very clean room, friendly staff. More modern than the 3 other historic hotels I've stayed at in Deadwood. Let's not forget to mention the valet/doorman waiting on you at the front door when you arrive. Great service. We will be back!
They just went through a wonderful remodel. They have 78 rooms which one to five people that can stay in each room. It's one of the oldest hotels in Deadwood. Legends Steakhouse is the best restaurant in the area. There is a cool bar in the basement where anyone can visit. They used to have a Babe Ruth suite in #402. So many famous people have visited this hotel. Willie Nelson, political politicians, old singers, actors, Kennedy stayed here. Teddy Roosevelt gave a speech from the balcony. :) It's DEFINITELY worth visiting!!! It's very convenient to all of the attractions in Deadwood. They have the newest slot machines and if you are a gambler, this would be the place to go. My friend won ~100k on one of their giveaways.
