Went out on the water with a group and it was a lot of fun. The rental rates were good, 5DAI a kayak. The location was a small cove, which didn't have picnic tables or a foam launch dock to step on. So I had to give it 4 stars, we lost some shoes in the mud. Though we were able to recover them and once your out on the water the breeze and the waves are really nice. Also, they had a hose on the side of the main office for washing off mud which was thoughtful. The staff was friendly and gets a full 5 star rating, also they had some great ice cream as well. So if your looking to try out kayaks on the lake it's a great place to do it and the staff makes up for the lack of a launch dock. It's a solid 4 star kayak rental spot. 🏄♂️
March 2024 Now called Ft Eisenhower, small place quiet. Came here with the family. For us, there is not much in the area to do. We did do Hilltop Stables and Georgia Aquarium. Spent most of the time driving to different areas. There is plenty of boating in the area. Only concern the beds in the trailers not very comfortable for us. You can't be the view or price.
I love taking the family here and camping in our tents next to the shore. There's nothing quite like camping outdoors with a fire and cooking your own food next to the water's edge. But if you feel like being a little less primitive their cabins are amazing. The cabins that they have on deer Lane are amazing. I highly recommend it.
Fantastic place for any occasion! The property was well maintained even in the began of what I would call the off season. We were there for a large wedding party and the cabins were well equipped and the views were stunning. I would have one recommendation. If you rent the cabins anytime of the year. Make sure the grass is cut in the common outdoor space of the cabins. Not a big deal just feedback and a nit pick to be honest.
Very pretty, but the park closes at sunset, even for active military. You can't be here to watch the sunset fade out or stargaze unless you're a paid camper. The rules get stricter as the years roll on with no notification to longtime visitors until you're kicked out for things you used to enjoy. "It's always been like that." No, it hasn't.
