If you’re looking for a fantastic camping location not far from Atlanta, this is the place for you! The staff are incredibly friendly, and the campground is very well kept. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. Whether you want to hang out by the lake, hike the miles of scenic trails, explore nearby attractions, or just kick back and relax, you should definitely check out FDR State Park Campground.

Great place for camping with family. Lots of places to hike, a lake for fishing, canoeing and pedal boat rentals available or you can bring your own Kayak. FDR liberty Bell pool within walking distance (entrance fee required)

We enjoyed our 3 night camping trip during the 4th of July weekend! We tent camped in area 6 (it was actually the only site available and was a handicapped site, directly across from the bath house. Lots of paved area for a wheelchair). The sites here are well maintained. Tent sites have very soft sandy/tiny rocks that make it easy to setup and stake your tent. This area is quite shady for most of the day. The camp hosts come through often and clean up. Neighbors were respectful. Many of the non-handicapped sites had little raised platform areas to keep your tent and food/prep area separate, which looked so nice! There is a trading post within the campground area that’s open 3days /week that sells firewood, ice, snacks, and little things you may have forgotten like deodorant, toothpaste,

Very clean and well maintained park. Georgia State Parks in general are some of the best and this is no exception. Camper sites are mostly level and have easy access to power and water hook up. A few sites are a little challenging to access due to angle off road and/or hills. I’ve seen a couple of campers struggle to get into position or end up at too steep an angle to unhook so be aware of that. The main check in and camp store is a decent distance from the campground and it’s all uphill. There is a trading post in the campground, but they’re only open Friday-Sun and limited hours. No sewage hook ups in the campground that I’m aware of. One very nice playground in the campground and one average playground over by the group shelter areas. Lake is not for swimming, but there are paddle boat
