A Modern Gem with Exceptional Service! I had a fantastic stay at the Fairfield by Marriott in San Carlos. From the moment I checked in with the night auditor, the service was perfect—she was incredibly kind and accommodating. Even the guests in the lounge were friendly and helpful! I was assigned a quiet room near the exit, exactly as I had requested. The room was beautifully appointed and clearly recently remodeled. The design is very clever and efficient for the modern traveler; I especially loved the transition from the flooring to the ceramic shower—it’s sleek and works perfectly. Worst hotel I ever stayed in. I had my reservation for weeks, and no one bothered to inform me that there would be renovations and inconveniences during my stay. It was noisy, and they didn’t even tell me the water would be turned off for 4 to 5 hours! Omg. I had to go down the street to use the bathroom.||Here’s the worst part… I am the guest and paid full price for this horrible experience. The staff didn’t really care and frankly could not do anything about it. But when I called the general manager, he was very defensive, showed no empathy for what the guests are going through and said there’s nothing he can do about it. It was convenient to my Mother's residence so I did not waste time traveling. The room was nice and clean. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The supplied pillows were a bit high and hard for me so I inquired if there might be a softer one. I was immediately supplied with a feather pillow, much like my own at home. Impressive! They are Green conscious. The breakfast was quite good and plentiful. All in all a nice experience and I plan to stay there whenever I return to California.

Very convenient location; the renovated room with King bed I had was great. The car park doesn't smell like urine or marijuana, in contrast to many other Marriotts in the Bay Area, which is a big plus for me. My only criticism is about the front desk giving out bottles of water. I asked for two more bottles of water on my second night of stay. The front desk told me to buy the water in the fridge. She was polite though. I do expect *free* bottles of water when I'm paying $160+ per night. That being said, I'll come back for another stay. Not the best but also not the worst Marriotts I've stayed at.

Overall, my experience at the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Francisco and San Carlos was exceptional. Despite the renovations taking place during my stay, JESUS went above and beyond to ensure that I had a comfortable and pleasant stay by placing me in a newly renovated room with a stunning view of the San Carlos airport. The proximity to shopping and businesses was also a major plus for me, making my trip even more convenient. The highlight of my stay was definitely the delicious breakfast. The hot, fresh waffles and eggs were a perfect start to my day, made even better by the friendly service from the waitress.
