Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Pittsburgh New Stanton

Fairfield by Marriott in New Stanton is a solid, no-drama stop right off the highway and worked great. Stayed there for a road-trip stop and it did exactly what I needed. Check-in was quick, staff were friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. The bed and pillows were cozy enough that I slept really well, and I appreciated having a fridge in the room for drinks and snacks. The free breakfast was a nice bonus – plenty of choices, including hot items, and the area was kept stocked and tidy. There’s also a small indoor pool and fitness area, which is great if you’ve been in the car all day and need to stretch your legs. Positive: Location Negative: Condition...tired and outdated for a Fairfield Inn. Needs a full gut job and rehab. What improvements were not up to standards for the price paid for the room.

Our room was pretty disappointing, with a tiny double bed, and a big gap in the room that seemed to be missing a chair? Despite being Bonvoy Platinum Elite, there was no recognition of this, the lady checking us in was obviously on a personal call and not that interested. We were just passing through, so just took the room and crashed for the night. Breakfast was the usual. A below average stay really the room was not up the what we expect, but at least was clean and relatively updated.

I booked using a credit card reward which required me to book through a third party instead of booking through the Marriott app. Even though I'm a Marriott Platinum member, I was still given what I would assume to be one of their lower tier rooms - room 310, which is right next to the elevator and wasn't all that attractive. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and checked me in quickly. Room 310 probably needs a renovation soon. The room was still equipped with a 90s style turn-button HVAC unit that was set incorrectly, so I couldn't figure out how to turn the heat on, and how strong to set the heat. I finally found out how to turn the HVAC off and dealt with a cold room as opposed to dealing with an impossibly hot room all night. Also, others who wrote reviews about the noise

Friendly staff! Last renovation seemed to be about 7 years ago. Not the best work but the hotel was very clean. The room we were in had 3 cord splitter in lime green coming off the outlet. Then 3 cords running behind the TV. Looked kinda tacky. Should have ran a longer cord then split it behind the TV or added another outlet behind the TV. I'm just being picky because I renovate hotels for a living.
