Extended Stay America Suites- Shelton - Fairfield County

At the last minute we decided to surprise our daughter who was in the area with a visit. Every other property was booking at over $500 with fees at that time for the one night. This popped up at less than $206 all in so we went with it. The reviews were all correct in some way. Upon entering the property grounds there was somebody sitting on a curb drinking beer and smoking ciggs. Entered the lobby and the smell of weed and ciggs was dominant. Parking lot had plenty of nice wide spaces. The hotel is well lit with nice modern lighting and the hallways were bright and clean (but again very deep smell of ciggs and weed). This is absolutely the worst location! Mimi, the manager is absolutely useless! They lied and said there is breakfast there is no breakfast. They offer gross gas station coffee and the room and halls smells like cigarette smoke and cannabis. Do not recommend staying here.!!! Again Mimi the manger is unhelpful and rude! Not fit for families!! Don’t torture your self for 30 bucks less. Go ANYWHERE else!!!

This hotel isn't the best and it isn't the worst. Our stay wasn't awful but the rooms were not impressive for they prices they charge. My wife and I did get an online deal using Priceline for less than a hundred bucks per night but the bed was terrible. It looked like the bed was an afterthought because the mattress made creaking and popping sounds whenever we moved or turned on the bed to sleep. Intimacy was a no-go because the bed was on a cheap steel frame with springs on it like a baby's crib has. There was no box spring and the bed is not a platform bed frame where it stays put, the one that we had moved whenever we went to lie on it. I found myself frequently pushing the the bed frame back towards the wall against the headboard that's attached to the wall, not to the bed. The pillows

Positive: Price, Good location. Negative: Room smelled strongly of cleaner, which is never a good sign. One of the shelves was broken. The bathroom sink water pressure was low. The free breakfast was coffee and a low quality blueberry muffin or sweet biscuit.

The hotel has a great location, very convenient for getting around. The room can be a little noisy at times, but overall comfortable. I really appreciated having a kitchen, and additional kitchen equipment was available upon request, which made the stay even more convenient. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better.
