Extended Stay America Suites- Santa Barbara - Calle Real

I recently stayed at Extended Stay America Suites – Santa Barbara – Calle Real, and the experience was disappointing overall. The good: The location is definitely the highlight. It’s very convenient if you’re visiting UCSB and the surrounding neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The hotel is also pet-friendly, which is a plus for travelers with animals. The rooms are also fairly spacious compared to many budget hotels in the area. The bad: Unfortunately, the property feels like it’s run by extreme penny-pinchers. The room comes with almost nothing. There’s no shampoo, no clothes hangers, no coffee maker, no plates, no utensils, and no hair dryer. You get one small soap and some towels — that’s about it. At $270-overpriced, rooms have no coffee pots, no tea in rooms. No hair products, sad bedspread, pathetic breakfast. The rooms were clean, but it feels like ownership just wants to cash in on The Location no conditioner in the bathroom. The bedspread felt like something that would be issued in the military. The halls are drab. The elevator is slow. The lobby is depressing. The breakfast is immediately next to the entrance door, which feels like they just want you to grab it and go. I don’t feel welcome here.

Positive: Location was close to where we were going. Good for just a place to sleep. Negative: It was very basic. They only provided the bare minimum. We had to ask for everything. The wifi didn't work well in the evenings. The staff seemed a little clueless. When we checked out, they told us we had a $6 charge, but couldn't tell me why.

I have been staying here now for 5 months and it has been a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The check-in process was smooth and the staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help. My room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with all the amenities I needed for a relaxing stay. Housekeeping did a great job throughout my visit. The location is convenient, making it easy to get around and access nearby attractions. I also appreciated the overall atmosphere of the hotel—it is quiet, safe, and welcoming. Any requests I had were handled promptly and courteously. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my experience and would gladly stay here again. I would also recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Extended Stay Calle Real is the only hotel we’ve stayed in these last 4 years while our son attended UCSB. The rooms are clean and tidy and the hotel is in fabulous proximity to the school and cafes, lunch spots and grocery stores along Calle Real itself. Early on in our stays we got to know Sara, who has always been so incredibly friendly and helpful. She’s always gone the extra mile for us and truly is the reason we keep coming back. She clearly takes her job seriously and enjoys interacting with other guests as I’ve seen firsthand. She’s truly an asset to the hotel! Keep up the great work, Sara!
