Extended Stay America Select Suites- Roanoke - Airport

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was so bad that I feel obligated to warn others. First and foremost, I was never informed that the front desk closes at 10:00 PM. I arrived at approximately 10:15 PM, expecting a normal check-in, only to discover the building completely closed. Instead of a staffed desk, there’s a random phone mounted on the side of the building that you’re supposed to use to call someone to come down and check you in. This was not communicated anywhere during booking and is completely unacceptable, especially for travelers arriving late. After waiting in the cold, someone eventually came down and checked me in. Unfortunately, things went downhill immediately after entering the room. • The toilet did not flush at all • The bathroom light didn’t work, meaning th

This is an excellent long term stay hotel. Room is very quiet, although it is by a busy highway and near an airport. Within a couple of miles are many different restaurants from fast food to family sit down restaurants. The room has a nice refrigerator with freezer, microwave, and electric stove. The bed is comfortable and guests exchange linens and bed sheets as often as desired. We stayed with a cat and some other hotels in the area refused us a room at any price! Others charged much higher nightly fees for a cat, but Extended Stays nightly charge was reasonable. It was nice that the room had a writing table so I could use my laptop (had to tether to my cell phone for internet access as hotel has no free wifi). Positive: Would not know we could not go in. It had been flooded and they were doing flood cleanup. We were not aware of this until we got there and were turned away by the clean up crew. Negative: nothing

Don’t trust any of the positive reviews! You couldn’t pay me to stay here. We left immediately after seeing the room. We will never come here again and will tell everyone we meet to avoid this place. The staff struggled to get the office door open so we could check in. Their keycard wouldn’t work. It took over 15min for them to get the door open and they had to use a questionable method involving a trash bag. When we finally got into the office it was difficult to understand what the attendant was saying. This did not make it easy to complete the paperwork. The elevator is rusty and needs some repairs, did not feel safe. I’m sure if it was light out we would have seen many other problems with the outer building. The room was the absolute worst.
