Our little family booked the Englewood Lighthouse Resort for several days in June, and we loved it so much that we decided to book it for two more weeks in July. We had the absolute best time here! It’s like a little slice of heaven and my kiddo can’t get enough fishing from the dock on property. He went through 3 dozen shrimp in no time at all! The bay views are incredible, and I love waking up to the peaceful surroundings. The manatees swim right up to the dock. The beaches are no about two miles away; a super easy drive. This time (we’re for our second stay now), we even took the kayaks and launched them right from the property. The pool overlooks the bay allowing me to watch my kiddos and husband fish while I play with our youngest in the pool. The cottages are absolutely perfect. They
My adult son and I just returned from a 3 night stay in one of the 1 bedroom units at this resort. Such a charming place - the unit was clean and cute, and had everything we needed, with space that gave privacy for both of us with a fold out couch in the living room. The rest of the property was beautifully maintained, with an amazing view of the bay and a dock that we enjoyed visiting to see what we could see. We especially enjoyed the underwater fish light at night and I had time to enjoy a peaceful morning on a bench watching fish jump and birds fly by. It is in a great location that is convenient to a lot of what the area has to offer. We only wish we had more time to spend there as we were visiting family and on the run a lot, but we are so happy to have found this property a
The photos in their ads is not what is really there. The property is old and needs much more maintenance than owners are willing to do. Any availability of a beach as advertised, someone needs to show you and the pool is truly the size of a large hot tub. The general location is off the "beaten path" to say the least and near some really slummy neighbors. Our main beef is the owners lack of responsiveness over a 4 day stay on a serious mold issue in the bathroom in the shower window. After first night/shower we notified owners the need for deep cleaning of heavy, black mold along bottom of the shower window and his response was to keep delaying until after our departure on day 4 to get in there to clean. I indicated beyond the normal health concern, I had allergies which is affec
We had a wonderful time here the past couple days! This place shows the real beauty of Florida. The cottages are not upscale. They give you a taste of old Florida. They are peaceful, clean, and comfy. If you are looking for a big fancy motel this is not the place for you. If you are looking for beautiful, private, quiet, clean, friendly, and cozy than this is perfect! They do have a bigger Key West type home also for rent that can accommodate a larger party. The property was so beautiful! The cottage was so cute and clean. We met Larry and he was very nice and showed us to our cottage. Inside there was a balloon that said "congratulations". He remembered I had told him we were celebrating our anniversary! Also in the fridge he and his wife left us a bag of goodies that had amazing homemade
I always used to be anti-Florida; then, 6 years ago, I discovered Englewood and The Englewood Lighthouse Resort. When I arrived on that long-ago day, I was greeted with a lovely note written by the owners' young daughter, along with homemade cookies and a hand-drawn map of the property. I have been returning ever since. These days the treats are a bit fancier, but the owners still make sure that personal touch is still there and that everything is perfect for your stay! It is a little home away from home! During our stay, Larry was around without being intrusive and, when I locked myself out of my cabin at 7:00 a.m. (I was on a smoked brisket mission and forgot to check the lock), he was a mere phone call away to "save the day" ... and my brisket! This year not only did I rent a cabi
