The property benefits greatly from its location, which remains its strongest attribute convenient and practical for both business and leisure stays. The suite itself was spacious and functional; however, the absence of a window significantly affected the overall comfort. Natural light plays an essential role in creating a sense of openness and ease, and without it, the room felt more enclosed than expected for a suite category. Service was consistent and professional throughout the stay. A notable highlight is the complimentary breakfast and evening snacks a thoughtful and generous touch that adds real value. We arrived very early on Christmas Eve and the hotel was very accommodating by letting us park early. Wallace, the valet, parked our vehicle near the entrance so when we checked in, it was easy to get our things. Check in was a breeze and the staff made us feel welcomed. |The room was what we expected, and as mentioned in other reviews, I enjoyed the exposed brick walls from the original building. |The evening reception was very basic with chips and dips and the bar was limited, but it was still enjoyable. The breakfast in the morning was typical and you could get an omelette made to order if you lie.|Great location and staff and we would stay again when in Charleston.

The staff has been consistently helpful although when we mentioned about the quality of our room, they just said "we will be renovating soon." Not even an apology. That doesn't address our stay now. Hilton should be ashamed of this property. It feels like a worn out college dorm room. The furniture is beat up, carpet torn and stained, there is no place to hang a towel in the bathroom, the mirror over the sofa (which is worn out too) is mounted crooked, the curtains to the interior facing window are barely hanging on the rod, and there are no exterior windows so the lighting is poor. For the money we paid this is beyond a disappointment. I expect more from an Embassy Suites and far more from Hilton. 3-7-2026: To add insult to injury here, I received the response below from the hotel WHI

Very nice hotel. Middle of downtown so walking was the way to go. I would have liked to know that it was valet only, which I dont like, and the fact that it was going to cost me 98 bucks for the 2 days we were there...I might have chosen a different place. But overall it was nice. Big room, small tvs but we were out exploring, and you have full control over the AC. The hotel itself is the original Citadel which is really awesome staying in a piece of history.

This property is so pretty on the outside and the lobby was nice but that's where it ended. It's an older property and is need of repairs. It didn't feel clean. The carpet was dirty, the bathroom tiles were broken and grout was dirty. We really wanted to enjoy our stay here but did not. ||The breakfast however was great and our Valet person today was nice and accommodating. The person that checked us in last was less than pleasant as was the Valet yesterday. ||At one time I'm sure it was a beautiful property but now, not so much. I would advise you to book another hotel!
