Elk Country RV Resort & Campground

Wonderful spot. I love the elk and the space was large. My only concern is that the site needs more gravel . We couldn't back in enough to hook up septic because we started sinking in the wet ground. But that's not an issue when the ground is dry.

Think twice before staying here. The owner has serious anger issues and should not be dealing with the retail public. He runs around all day trying to impose his ridiculous concentration camp type rules. We witnessed him yelling at several of his customers. Check the long list of rules on his website, besides the sites are close to the highway which makes it busy and noisy., definitely not relaxing or peaceful.

The facilities themselves are okay, but the type of clientele staying here makes the overall experience questionable at best. Our check-in was friendly and the full hook-up site reasonably clean as were the restrooms and the laundry. The owner strongly warned us about moose in the area – but honestly, he should have warned us about the loud, rowdy crowd that seemed to dominate this campground. On our second night there was an explosion, followed by sheriff and ambulance on site. Later, a fight broke out right behind us, with the sheriff still present the next morning to keep things under control. We were just glad to leave this place.

We have stayed at Elk Country for many years. The office staff is unorganized and often mixes up the reservations. Unfortunately, this past week we experienced verbal abuse and aggressive threatening behavior from the owner Kurt. He was yelling and using the F word repetitively , demanding we move the picnic bench back to the original spot, as we attempted to let him|Know we would comply , he became more |aggressive in the presence of our young grandchildren . Fortunately, we had safety in numbers, he backed away from approaching the picnic table where the kids were playing a game , he stated he would move it himself. We stayed at this camp for one night in the tent site. - The campsite wasn’t clean (even though the instructions are firm about cleanliness), there were food scraps and trash just lying around. The whole table was covered in bird feces and the trash bins were overflowing. - The check-in had a sign “Be back in 10 minutes.” and after two hours still no one. Although you could do the checkin by yourself fairly easily. - The WiFi isn’t free. It’s only free for 30 minutes and up to 100 Mb. Otherwise you have to pay. - The showers take quarters (1 quarter = 1 minute) and the minimum is 3 minutes, although it doesn’t feel like 3 minutes. Also the knobs aren’t labeled and the water changes temperature slowly, so you’ll spend the first minute just fishing for the right temperature.
