Great first-come first serve/walk-in campground for $30 - get here by the afternoon! I arrived at 4pm on a Thursday, and the campground looked mostly empty. The host Dude (real name) was so kind and helpful - he suggested I take his camp chair to “claim” my spot (#24) when I left so no one else would take it. When I returned around 6:30, the campground was packed. Also he has kittens and a full catio situation for his indoor/outdoor cats. They were adorable and looked very happy. Showers were only $1 for 5 minutes and a quarter for every additional min after. It was so warm and refreshing, considering the price I almost forgot it was 2025. I already look forward to returning one day!
Fun Campground even though it was full but we were lucky and got an overflow spot, I was told by some campers that camp there quite often that this was unusual. Dude the camp host was gracious by offering the last overflow site, and also invited us to music behind this place. The music was surprisingly good, so it turned into a very fun evening.
Location was perfect. *Be sure to have correct change when checking in because there's no refunds for overpayment.* Campground was a bit ragged due to construction. I assume they're replacing the decrepit restroom/shower building, which will greatly improve the place. Also some weed wacking wouldn't hurt. Other than that, it was a decent campground.
Great first come first serve campground. We arrived early on Wednesday before the long weekend and 'Dude', the congenial camp host directed us to the open premier spot, #25! Great beachfront spot with a stunning vista. The campground is lovely overall with hot showers for $1 in quarters and clean restrooms. Dude is super. Very friendly and helpful all around. He also carves and fabricates unique and interesting stringed musical instruments from driftwood that he sells on the side to fund his vacation account. Park is super dog friendly. Our retriever was doing laps in the lagoon multiple times a day. Right now there is a breach in the jetty so you have to be aware of the jellyfish that are washing in from the open ocean and avoid them.
There are approximately 12 camp sites. Some are big and private some are very close. It's dusty. The lagoon is pretty and calm. You cannot swim in the nearby beach. Dangerous tides. No hookups. $30 a night. Cheaper for hikers. And bikers.
