Elephant Rock Campground

April 2025: We stayed at Elephant Rock campground and had a nice time. Campsites are spread out so you aren't on top of each other. April was an incredible time to visit. Park is not busy at all. Some of the roads through are closed at this time but was worth having less people. When we arrived to the park it was in the middle of a blizzard. As evening approached, the storm cleared up and left the most incredible scene. Bushes and rocks covered with snow and low laying clouds floating through. Super cool. We did an extended version of the Box Top Loop hike. We saw a moose on the trail just down from the campground. The upper portions of the trail were pretty deep snow and we had some post-holing but once we got back down from the top is was fine.

If you want to leave this world behind you and step into the past where pavement ends and the beauty of God's creation begins, this is the place. Well off of the beaten path, lights out at 10pm so you can enjoy the midnight sky without the city lights pollution. No cell service, just peace and harmony with nature and granite formations that will leave you breathless. The History behind the silent city is that of amazing perseverance through the unknown and the push for a new beginning.
