City of Rocks Retreat

My family stayed at the City of Rocks Retreat RV Park last month, while we visited the City of Rocks. The location is perfect- just outside the reserve entrance. The hosts are friendly, and the facilities are simple but extremely clean. That along with the reasonable price guarantees that we will be back. For anyone with a travel trailer: there's water and power at the RV park, but no septic. However, the dump station is just down the road and is super convenient.

It's a nice campground! The owners are super nice and down to earth. You can make reservations ahead or there is a self service kiosk. It can fill up fairly quickly early and late in the season (when it's not 100 degrees outside). There's really no trees in Alamo Idaho and this campground is no exception. They are however trying to grow some so it could be a really nice spot it 5-10 years! (Edit: Removed reference to dry camping since it was inaccurate in the context of RV camping in which it is most commonly used. They do have water spigot available for drinking and cooking but do not have flushing toilets or showers for campers who are tenting it.)

I don't think you could get any closer to the City of Rocks and still have a roof and a hot shower unless you tow it in. We stayed at the Studio Apartment, which was perfect for our needs. Highly recommend the place. Cell service is very spotty out there - you probably won't get it at the apartment, but there is great wifi. Local food/shopping/gas is limited, so you definitely need to plan ahead for those things.

We stayed in the yurt. Clean, protected from the elements, and comfortable. Ross the host visited to make sure we were doing okay. The yurt is literally the closest rental to the east entrance to City of Rocks. We used the gas grill a lot as well. We loved it!

Clean inexpensive place to stay. Located at the entrance of City of Rocks, which is a must see. Hosts are nice.
