DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Holland

Booked on priceline for $77 then read reviews and questioned my decision... The woman at the desk was very nice. I read in reviews that the rooms adjacent to the pool are very humid and moldy so I requested the other building and she was accommodating. Lobby area does show signs of unfinished renovation. Our building had none of that moist/humid feeling of many hotels. It smelled clean. Our room was one of the recently renovated ones. It was clean with no mold anywhere. A/C system was good and a window opened. There were usb and usb c charging ports throughout. As reviewers mentioned our bathroom was an issue. In ours they put this weird barn style door that leaves a large gap between the door and wall, eliminating any hopes of gastroenterological privacy. It also came off track frequent

This hotel has potential, but it isn't there yet. Despite advertising a restaurant and bar on their website, neither were available. We were meeting friends and the restaurant and bar were why we stayed here. The door to our room was difficult to open and shut. The exercise area looks good but one (of two) treadmills, the recumbent bike, and the elliptical weren't working. Half the parking lot was closed off for no apparent reason. To add insult to injury, one of the desk attendants told us the bar and restaurant were closed because the chief was sick. This is obviously not true. It is difficult to believe a hotel this size has only a single chief. Two bright spots stopped this from being a one star review. The first is the breakfast. The hotel staff was very friendly and was the most enjoyable part of the experience. The parking lot was not recently plowed and half of the lot was shut down. The hotel is currently under going some serious renovations, entire floors were out of service. The room was very noisy at night with unknown sounds. I also heard an alarm going off at 7am in a neighboring room. Overall great staff but this experience was not like my stay at other double trees.

Positive: The staff Negative: I was in the section that has yet to be renovated. The carpet is pretty dirty- You don’t want to have your bare feet on it.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Will Never Return I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Holland, Michigan, and this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I was charged for waters that I never drank, and despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, the hotel refused to refund me. According to their paperwork, the waters “weren’t in the room,” which is absolutely untrue — we never touched them. The lack of accountability and professionalism from both management and staff was unbelievable. The room itself was also a major disappointment. The plumbing was terrible — the sink backed up while brushing my teeth, and every time the toilet was flushed it looked like it was about to overflow.
