Days Inn by Wyndham Black Bear

Great value. Amazing indoor pool with kiddy pool and huge hot tub. Rooms were clean and spacious and staff was friendly. Sure I'd have loved a hot breakfast but they're upfront about it being less, and for the price it's excellent.

There is no continental breakfast as advertised. Hot water machine, coffee button, a hand grab of tea packets and sugar, and a granola bar offered. We chose this stay for the cost with a breakfast and at least hoped for cereal….cold or hot would’ve been adequate.

We stayed for one night (10/12-10/13), unfortunately I did not catch the name of the woman at the front desk who helped us, but she was a gift! We'd never been to Salem before, and she helped us find some really interesting things to do in the area for our short visit. She also helped us identify the gear we need to stay dry and comfortable during our visit. The hotel itself was clean, quiet, and overall an enjoyable experience. However, the staff definitely made the trip 10x better.

Positive: Staff was friendly, check in easy, no major problems. Beds were comfortable. Pool and fitness center were open but I didn't try them. Negative: Room seemed clean enough (though I would recommend slippers) but there was a weird smell (bleach? wet dog?). We bought some eucalyptus for the bathroom to help.I wish the fitness room was open/didn't require you to get a key.

This a very large hotel, that you can tell used to be very nice back in the day. They no longer do breakfast, (have gronla bars and juice) The room was spacious but smelled like pee. An animal had chewed most the furniture. lots of holes and dirt on the walls. The shower was warm but never actually hot. The pool is nice for even small kids (has a 1' pool with fountain) hot tub didn't work I guess, as it was covered. Evening desk girl was friendly morning clerk seemed like it had already been a very long day. Also lots of homeless outside hanging out. Fred Meyers and Dennys are very conveniently located.
