Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale East/Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

We booked a trip here to visit family and I rebooked the room twice to add a day to my stay. When I called to rebook, that probably would’ve been the best time to tell me that the hotel would have no AC during my stay. I traveled with my 5 and 3 year old so you can guess how that went if you have kids. I showed up to the hotel and was handed a paper stating there would be no AC and it was the perfect week for maintenance due to Floridas “mild” climate that week. Well guess what folks, I’m from Massachusetts, and 40 degrees feels like early summer right about now. It was between 65 and 80 in FL. Our room was sweltering, clocking in at 76-78 degrees the last 3 days. Everyone slept practically naked or barely slept at all. You cannot leave the screen door open because the hotel is located on

My husband and I stayed 2 days here over February break because it was reasonably priced. It is about a mile walk from the beach and downtown area with great restaurants. There is a CVS nearby too. The lobby appears to be recently renovated which is nice. The bistro/to go restaurant had some nice breakfast options. The rooms, however, seem outdated and are unclean. There was visible soap scum, mold, and hair in the shower upon our arrival. The walls are extremely thin and you can hear everything from your neighbors at all hours of the night. I was also annoyed that there was no safe in the room. I did appreciate the ability to change the thermostat because I like it cold and the AC was definitely working. Checking in was easy. Our room was in great condition. Bathroom was clean water and toilet was discolored but that's because of the water in florida is so not sure If they used reclaimed water for toilets, I know they do for irrigation. [That's my business.] my fiance owns a cleaning business our room was clean. Property is in great condition. Now to food service in the morning. I had a breakfast sandwich was awesome. My fiance had oatmeal with blueberries.She loved it, coffes were great. Joe and Aida @ the restaurant/breakfast where super nice.

Positive: Location, easy to get to room Negative: Bed needs a mattress topper. Woke up sore because you can feel either the slats or the springs through the bed. Also, rooms should have a microwave.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO STAY HERE! Warning: Long Post||We would've never stayed here, but because we were in town for a wedding and the church was close by, that's why we chose it. ||First night - my wife checked in, she got the room, and found roaches in the room. Immediately she told the front desk and they moved her to another room. They were nice to comp us the room for our inconvenience. That was the only positive.||The next few days/nights we were there, the room's AC was not working at all. We tried every way possible to make the room cold, but it was muggy and uncomfortable.
