Older hotel that appears to be updated. Poolside rooms smell for chlorine. Pool area is old and poolside decks overlooking pool area have old dirty carpeting. Coffee was good and hot when available. Beautifil Bigwood Event Center connected to Hotel.

I have stayed at this property on several occasions. The facility has taken a turn for the worse over the last few years. The hot tub has almost never worked, the pool is often out of commission and this was the case again on my most recent visit. Furthermore when we checked into our room the mirror was broken and the bed appeared broken or damaged in some way. We were moved to a different room and in the middle of the night the heat went out. Our room became so cold (outside temp 23F) that we woke up at 3 am. The heater never started working again. Luckily our check out time was around 7am. Decided to finally check out the Minnesota shaped indoor swimming pool, so I booked a night here. Check in was good, and the lady was helpful. I was a bit surprised that they take such a large incidental fee on top of the room rate right away and that it takes multiple days to fall off my account. Made it nearly $200 for 1 night, which I feel is quite steep for location and amenities. The elevator felt like it was close to breaking down as well, as it made an abrupt crashing noise each time we used it. We get to the room, and man it was dark and a bit dinghy… the whole place really needs better lighting, especially in the hallways, and in the rooms, while we did have a pool facing room, I didn’t expect it to still be so dark even in the daylight… the pool area would benefit from some sk

Staffing appeared very limited during our stay, and guest safety and service suffered as a result. The parking lot and walkways were covered in solid sheets of ice. Given how minimal the cost would be to properly salt the property, it was disappointing and frankly concerning that this was not addressed, as it posed a clear safety risk. Exterior security doors were held open with zip ties, effectively bypassing the locking system. This was brought to staff’s attention, but no action was taken until I personally cut them off MYSELF. I did not feel comfortable with the risk of an unmonitored exterior door allowing anyone to walk into the building. Additionally, our key cards deactivated early on the morning of checkout.
