Comfort Inn & Suites North Tucson Marana

First, I would say, when we made the reservation, we had a lady that helped us and she was friendly. We didn't have any issues there. |When we checked in, they checked us in and that was that. Didn't seem mean or nice, just did their job and that was that. |When we went to the 3rd floor, as soon as stepped out the elevator, the hallway reeked horribly like someone smothered the hallway carpet with pure bleach! It stunk so bad and was so so potent/strong with the bleach smell that I mentioned it to the front desk and she said it isn't bleach. I don't know how it isn't cause I have used bleach before many times in my life and it smelled like bleach. It made my eyes water and I was getting light headed the whole rest of the night if we had to go into the hallway. |The next day, when we exited

The manager (I'm not finding her biz card) is great. She appears to have a good relationship with her employees. She is kind and attentive. The facility is very clean and festive. The dining area is spotless. Our room was well refreshed. The location is perfect for our needs while visiting family in the area.

Solid 3 stars. We went knowing it was an older hotel but it was the closest to where we needed to be, it was more than shown online but we just needed a place to sleep for a few hours. The AC fan needs to be fixed, so we had to turn it off, no way to sleep through it. There was also no option to not have the fan on when the AC wasn't going. And yes AC, someone must've had their heat cranking because the room stayed hot. Beds were comfortable and clean, as was the room. As for the bathroom this is where we could tell this was an old hotel. Rusty toilet paper holder, tape still on the door hinges from the paint job and a curtain rod ready to fall. We ended up at this hotel only because the property we originally booked was not ready and sent us here as an alternative. Unfortunately, the experience was unpleasant from the start. The General Manager, Sagui Barrow, was rude and unpolite. At one point, she explicitly told me that she wished we had not stayed at this hotel and that she would have preferred to send us back to the other property. Hearing this directly from a general manager was shocking and completely unprofessional. As guests, we felt unwelcome and uncomfortable, as if our presence was an inconvenience rather than valued business. This hotel might be on the older side, but it has been well maintained. Other properties in this Quality Inns chain have declined over the years - some so badly deteriorated that I’ve stopped staying at some. But, staying at this hotel was a surprisingly good experience. The value for the price was excellent, as was the condition of the room and entire property. Restaurants and other services are within walking distance. YI definitely recommend staying here if you are in the Tucson area, especially on the northern side.
