Colonial Palace Inn - Downey

My husband and I drove 6 hours to visit family. We arrived late to check in but that was no problem. We stayed 2 nights and it would have been nice to have a Keurig in the room. The room was small, nothing cozy, the air conditioner would not get cool. On our second day our key card no longer worked that was very frustrating to have to go downstairs and let them know. On the plus side it was very quiet and very well lit especially where you park your cars. This is a place to stay for a day but for more than that they should have rooms specifically designed for travelers that stay for 2 days plus.

I would have have given this place 5 star, but boy oh boy. I called this place at 11:55pm on Jan 14, 2026 to see if they had rooms available because we just got off the highway. The guy at the desk seemed to have been sleeping. He said yes so we arrived there between 12:15-12:30 am on Jan 15, 2026. We rung the doorbell and the guy tried to charge us 120 per night. I asked him if I could book online because it was cheaper he stated yes. I booked online for the 15-17, when he looked in his system for the reservation he could not find it. I showed him my reservation and than he checked again it was there. He told me I had to pay 50.00 more for a deposit. I did and than he gave us our key. As we are going on about our day, we came back to the hotel about 9pm on Jan 16, 2026, we couldn't get in

This place is OKAY.... For every good thing they did, there's a good thing they DIDN'T do. Examples: the freezer in the mini fridge worked great! But there was no ice bucket because they don't have an ice machine. There's a microwave in the room, but no cups because there's no coffee maker. The room had great lighting at night, but no room darkening curtains - so by 6am my room looked like midday. Great toilet paper (most hotels have the worst toilet paper imaginable!) but nothing to keep you from slipping in the bath tub (I almost ate it stepping into the shower). Only 3 pillows for 2 guests and no trash can in the bedroom area - bathroom only. This place has great curb appeal and is still in the process of being fixed up. Front desk is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are brand new remodeled clean and cozy. Great location I will definitely come back. And great price. Thank you very much guys for making me feel at home.

I was in town to play paintball at Hollywood Sports Park for the day and decided to stay overnight in order play on Sunday! The motel is within walking distance and there's a lot of food choices in area! The updated rooms were clean, although some of the finer details show some aging ! Overall it was a very good night stay! I will definitely stay here again when I town to play HSP!
