They have a little construction going on, but it doesnt take away from the beauty of the park. The overlook of the waterfalls is staggering. The sun covered hills, and the carved valley is like a mixing bowl for the the 2 bursting falls. We came early spring, but I know during the fall the variety of colorful foliage and falling leaves would be lovely. It reminded me of a mixture of Petit Jean State Park and Devils Den State Park. Worth the drive, but if you walk to the falls be ready for a Great Wall experience. I think the guy said there were 12000 stairs.
Cloudland Canyon State Park is an absolute gem for hikers. The trails are challenging, scenic, and rewarding, with huge canyon views, waterfalls, and enough elevation change to make it feel like real mountain hiking, not just a walk in the woods. The rim trails deliver nonstop overlooks, and the descent into the canyon is steep, rugged, and worth every step back out. Everything is well maintained without feeling overdeveloped. It stays quiet, spacious, and immersive, even when other hikers are around. If you’re into serious hiking, big views, and places that make you slow down and take it all in, Cloudland Canyon is a must. Easy five stars. Pet friendly too.....
Cloudland Canyon offers beautiful fall foliage views and plenty of scenic spots to enjoy. Parking was convenient which made the visit smooth from the start. The park has many enjoyable features, especially during the autumn season when the colors are stunning. (waterfall area was dry, though) There was a park ranger in front of building— he was kind and engaging, especially with children and families, offering helpful information and creating a welcoming atmosphere. It was good to see such positive interaction. However, some areas on the trail to the waterfall need maintenance. Certain stairs and railings felt loose and wobbly, and there were wooden sections with holes that seemed potentially dangerous. It would be great if these parts were repaired to ensure safety for all visitors. Ov
This place was an experience I’m really glad I had. The hike down to the bottom was surprisingly easy, with stairs at every change in elevation. The waterfalls inside the canyon are beautiful, and the scenic views from the top are absolutely incredible. This review only covers the day use areas and the hiking trail down to the waterfalls deep in the canyon. I went in without expectations and didn’t even look at a trail map beforehand — I just wanted to see the waterfalls. The descent feels like thousands of stairs, and according to my watch, it’s nearly a 300-meter drop with a round trip of about 3 miles. The climb back up was definitely a workout, but the views and waterfalls made every sweaty step back out worth it. It’s impressive that the state of Georgia installed such an extensive
Cloudland Canyon is an absolutely gorgeous park that I hope everyone gets to visit atleast once. I came in December so a little cold but that means less traffic and visitors! It was very quiet and the West Rim Loop was a beautiful 5 mile hike with lots of views and nature to see. The stairs down to the waterfalls are not bad going down, now going up is a different story but definitely worth it. The waterfalls were frozen over but it was still a sight to see. All of the staff were very kind and helpful. Worth the 2 hour drive from Atlanta!
