Clegg's Hotel

We had a pleasant stay at Clegg's Hotel for a couple of nights recently in the shoulder season of post-Labor Day September. We had originally reserved a single room rather than a suite, but the hotel allowed us to upgrade at a reasonable price at their own suggestion (at least reasonable given Fire Island prices). We found the staff very helpful and available. Can't beat the location, either, literally steps from the ferry dock and right in the thick of Ocean Beach. Room and hotel were quiet at night, despite us turning in earlier than the other visitors to the village. One quirk was getting a notice after we made the reservation that the hotel preferred to have check-ins by 4:30 p.m. I don't know if we missed that detail on their website, anywhere, but it did mean that we had to cal

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐||This was my first time staying at Clegg’s Hotel and visiting Ocean Beach, Fire Island, and I couldn’t have been more impressed! While I’ve explored other towns and hotels on Fire Island before, Clegg’s was a delightful surprise—a true gem of a cozy bayside inn.||The room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The reception staff was warm and welcoming, and Tyler, who handled our late check-in (last ferry at 11 PM) and check-out, went above and beyond. It was advertised that a complimentary breakfast is served, got there and and was told by Tarryl that they no longer provide such a while now, and that he can arrange to purchase or refund me $10. I also booked ocean view, my windows weren't facing the ocean. Pictures shown were taken from the two windows in suite B. The bathroom is new and modernized, can say the same for the rest of the room. It was my first visit to the island, so i can compare this hotel to others in that vicinity yet.

I had a wonderful stay at Clegg’s Hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with anything we needed. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, which made for a relaxing experience. The location couldn’t be better, it’s right in the heart of Ocean Beach, just steps away from restaurants, shops, and the beach. It’s the perfect spot if you want convenience and a true Fire Island experience. I would absolutely recommend Clegg’s Hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay!

Horrible. The rooms were small and dirty. Beds very uncomfortable. Bedroom locks not secure, so not safe to leave any valuables. Bathrooms were disgusting. Dustbins completely rusted. Fungus. The hotel is promoted as a luxury stay but is far from that. More like a guesthouse/hostel. Extremely noisy in the night so don’t expect to have any sleep before 1 am. You can party along from your room though…
