Candlewood Suites Lake Charles South, an IHG Hotel

I had to run the water for at least 15 minutes for it to warm up enough to shower. That was the first day. It never warmed up on the 2nd day. The shower curtain is too short and water gets everywhere. The living room chair was broken. Some lights do not work. The TV volume would occasionally get really loud and immediately go back down. The room was clean. The AC worked well. The bed was comfortable. Good location.

First a little background:||My husband & I travel quite a bit in the US & abroad. We both lived in Sulphur for the majority of our lives.||||We had every intention of leaving a high review of this motel, the room was nice & comfortable, the appliances in the room were high quality as well as the linens ... until we were told we HAD to leave as their records indicated we were to check out on 04/26/2025 or they would call the police to evict us! We were shocked!||||My husband placed our reservation for 3 nights, 04-25-2025 thru 04-26-2025. Several days before we were to arrive we decided to add 1 day to our reservation. The employees acted annoyed by bringing the ants and towels to their attention! When checking out the desk employee acted unconcerned about the issues are a chance for any type of review! The cabinets and counter were full of black ants! Dirty towels in bath hung on rods as if they were clean and hard as a rock! The tub was not clean, looked like someone unprofessional tried to resurface it! The counters, ceiling and other areas definitely need attention also! We had to go to staff on two occasions, luckily we only had to stay one night and left early as possible without any form of rest!! Felt unsafe because the door lock needed repair but lucky for me I was with a state employee licensed to carry! Will not use the hotel again and this is my second bad experience! Customer service is good (hence 4 stars). Our rooms both had issues though. The first one had a moisture issue that required us to be moved to another room (which we were compensated for). However, the next room also had a moisture issue. You could feel the moisture/humidity in the air at night time. Parking is a nightmare; definitely not enough parking for the amount of guests. Free laundry is a plus! Location is prime for everything…food, shopping, work/industry. I would stay again and recommend to friends.

We didn’t get the room we booked. Got a queen bed instead of a king which we paid extra for. Asked to be switched and front desk said there’s nothing they can do. Hot water didn’t work, my husband and I took cold showers. I called the front desk asking what’s going on and they said probably a lot of people used the hot water and it ran out but they’ll put a service ticket in with maintenance. It’s a hotel, there should be hot water for guests. Maintenance doesn’t come until the morning and we only stayed for one night which was useless for us. Again tried checking if we could switch rooms and no assistance. Then on top of it all, we were charged an extra almost $100 on top of what we should have paid without explanation. The worst experience, DO NOT STAY HERE. The only reason for 2 stars i
