Candlewood Suites Lafayette by IHG

The staff was incredibly friendly, unfortunately our room reeked of cigarettes and the pool was very very scummy and there were metal rusty shards coming off the door fixtures in the pool room from the corrosion of chemicals. The green couch was brown with stains and there were several brown stains on the carpet. My kids feet were black when we checked out early. We also were not given a discount for the group we were with because we were told it was “first come first serve.” It could have been really great. The kitchenette was clean though!

Clean nice kitchenette comfortable bed. ||Stayed on the third floor looking at I-65. There was some road noise. ||Plenty of hot water. Nice bathroom with Dove shampoo conditioner and body wash ||Small coffee maker with one pack of regular and decaf ||Right next to the Heijer store and several restaurants.

The location is right next to the highway so it is very loud. If you have to stay here, you need to be on the east side away from that if you want any chance of sleeping. The staff are very pushy and rude. One of the guys who works nights at the front desk is not pleasant at all not least of all because he doesn't bathe. The rooms are decent. The price, assuming you're not there on a game weekend, is okay as well. If you’re there on a game weekend, you might have to sell a kidney to afford a weekend in a mediocre hotel. Then again, you're going to get gouged in any Lafayette hotel if there's a game.

I can’t say anything about the quality of the hotel, I cancelled my stay before I got there. It’s been four days and I have yet to get back the almost $700 dollars that they withdrew from my account that they said was just a “hold”. The hotel staff just keeps saying call the next day if it’s not in there. Then today I called and the lady working there was just laughing on the phone when I explained my reason for calling. Low and behold she said the same thing call back tomorrow. If there is anyway I could get ahold of someone in corporate to sort this out I’d appreciate it.

Positive: Quiet Negative: We chose this hotel because of the 24 hour pool and the breakfast. The pool was closed and the explanation was silence. Nothing. We had to actually inquire as to why the pool wasn't available because it was visibly full of clean looking water.
