My first year in 1956 , age 10, with my brother, 13, I became so homesick I had to be picked up early! Returned , however for three more summers and had incredible memories! Anyone have any old pictures of the camp? Im writing a document for my children and would love to have something to show.

Camp Ernest W. Brown: where the only thing thinner than the mattress is the excuse for hospitality. I’ve stayed in hostels all over the world, but this one? This one haunts me. The room smelled like someone microwaved socks. The bed creaked every time I thought about moving, and the pillow had the texture of a slightly used tortilla. I’m pretty sure the towel they gave me used to be a t-shirt. The shower? A delicate trickle of lukewarm sadness. The bathroom door didn’t lock — not because it was broken, but because there was no door. Also, shoutout to the 2 a.m. hallway karaoke courtesy of some guy named Steve and his off-key rendition of “Wonderwall.” Thanks, Steve. If you're into haunted house vibes with prison aesthetics, this place might be for you. Otherwise, sleep literally anywh

I went because my brother was so young, he couldn't go by himself. It was in the late Sixties and we went with a bunch of boys from #2 Boys' Club. I was miserable the first week and didn't want to leave at the end of the second week! 👍🏿

I was there every summer as one of the few ‘bandsmen’ (Metropolitan Police Boys Club Band - directed by Colonel Leon Brusiloff) between 1960 and 1969. My brother, Glen, was also there with me - he was a woodwind player.

I attended in, I believe, 1951 or 1952 at the age of 8 or 9. Those fond memories have lasted a lifetime.
